I am on page 306 with about 110 more pages to go on. The novel is alright but has no dimensions towards their characters to create an air of exictement or terror. Curiosity led me to purchase and read the novel and the same force shall led me to finish the novel.
My expectation were high on this novel, but are low so far... too much delay and fomalities from its century. Perhaphs t'is not myself but the differences in our times; just maybe this novel was a sensation on terror in its time but remined as classic literature for its underlined themes. Still, Mary Shelly has the same manner of style to write as this guy ion some degrees and wrote a better novel in all ways comepared. I took alot more from Mrs. Shelly than Stoker by far...dissapointing.
The lest I took ideas fom this book; there is a saying I beleive that one learnes more from a mistake than from an accomplishment.
After this novel, I'll probably open another novel by Dumas rather than the original group of books I took from Barn&Noble that day. Dumas is a man to create sheer stir towards his readers and has goes to be known greatly for his master pieces. Even today we see the shadow of his work affect the world of films in "V for Vendetta"; great masterful movie indeed which stirred to tears for its awe of glory!
Just out of curuiosity, I noticed that there is a book were Frankenstein's montser originated in fiction, same as vampires (not entirely its true origion but just flow with the train of though), so is there a book where the curse of the mummy originated from? Or how about the curse of the werewolf? These were popular themes of horror film around the 50's if I recall correctly, and way back so where are the novels who layed its foundation? Werewolves may be of old folklore, but if I find none, I may take upon myself to write up novel with the similar form of writting as Mary Shelly, and Bram Stroker with a twist!
