Spawn from the rural metropolis that is Bendigo, the story of the KILLERBIRDS is not unlike that of many well known bands such as The Stooges or Nirvana. A tale of disenchanted youth growing up in a small working class town, where Rock n’ Roll is considered ‘evil’ and forced to exist in the murky underbelly of a D.I.Y musical community.
So what do you do when there is nothing else to do?
Since forming in early 2006 the KILLERBIRDS have spent much of their time on the road aiming to attract punters to their fresh blend of rock sensibility. In recent months, the band have toured the country with legendary Australian bands The Cosmic Psycho’s and The Celebrate Rifles. With the tour proving to be so successful, another is slated for 2007/8, which will also include dates in New Zealand.
Also this year, the KILLERBIRDS announced themselves into the Australian music scene with a debut EP featuring 4 blistering tracks of hard rock mayhem. An online review described it as “ a debut hard rock EP that is chokas with enough ******** you attitude to make Henry Rollins blush”.
If you could imagine Lemmy from Motorhead fronting a 60's garage girl pop band like The Pandora's then you might come close to imagining what this band sounds like. Produced by Ross Knight of the Cosmic Psychos and mixed by Lindsay Gravina (Magic Dirt, Thirsty Merc, The Living End), this debut EP is just a taste from a young band that could one day be a core component of Australia's musical framework.
