Pablo Neruda: Admirer
Considered the greatest poet of the 20th century in any language Neftalí Ricardo Reyes Basoalto was praised around the world for his many works. Early in his youth at age 13 he published an essay in the local newspaper titles The Morning through the encouragement of many people who loved literature and writing as much as he did. Later in 1920 he adopted his penname Pablo Neruda once he became a published author of poems, prose, and journalism. He also became a communist politician during the Spanish American War and would be for the rest of his life. As Pablo Neruda’s fame spread across the world he became acquainted with other famous writers and painters of Latin America like Nobel winner and novelist Miguel Angel Ausurias of Argentina and with his help Neruda escaped to Europe. In exile, Neruda wrote about his many adventures and encounters with beauty and love but terribly missed his homeland. Personally I admire this person ardently because he never stopped believing in things other people thought weren’t good or was considered evil. Even some of his works were banned to the public due to his position and ideas about how one should live their life freely without the government telling them what to do or think. Maybe I too should strongly believe in something that no one can ever take from me like my writing which means so much too me. Hopefully one day also I become an activist of sorts and too lead a life full of beauty and compassion. Then maybe once I grow old there may be a chance of a Noble Peace Prize.
