Pre thingy
Lariel, a nine year old girl with a duty bestowed upon her. Ever since birth she knew she weren’t normal. This fact was proven when one of the neighbors came by and tried to kill her. Later they saw that she was a child and not some foreign monster. She admitted that her appearance frightened most. Some say that her mother be cursed for bringing forth a beast. Her mother though never showed any hostility towards her. She often said that she was not a curse but a blessing to her home. One day Lariel’s curiosity got the better of her. She looked for a reflective piece of metal or per chance a mirror so that she might see what she was. She found it odd that nothing seemed to catch the light so to reflect an image. When she inquired her mother about it she ended up with a speech about showing vanity and haughtiness. For many years after she never brought that subject forth. One day her mother sent her on a delivery to the neighbors. By then everyone that knew her got to know her appearance to.
Chapter one
The crisp smell of pine and haks awakened her as she strode to her neighbors place bearing a gift from her mother. Today it was Mrs. and Mr. Lowns 43rd anniversary. For a couple to remain together that long was almost unheard of. Most were broken up by disease and other ailments. The firm pressed path between the two houses was well worn and traveled because of there close relationships with the Lowns. Not many people lived in these areas for fear of the mountains and mainly the forests on and around them. Most say that they were habited by strange creatures and frightening beasts. Lareil though suspected that there fears were greatly exaggerated and erroneous. Not once had they ever had trouble with the local wildlife. She did though agree that there were some creatures that were different from the rest but then apparently so was she.
When the small hak wood cottage came into view she broke out into a joyful run hoping to catch Mrs. Lowns baking her famous cookies.
