A live-action movie version of Metroid was reportedly in development by Lion Rock Productions, based around Samus Aran, along with her early battles with the Metroids and the Mother Brain. It was scheduled to be released in theaters around 2006, but either has been canceled or remains in development hell.

Spyro The Dragon

There have been several rumors around the net stating a movie. Its is said to be made by The Animation Picture Co. and is based around the legend series. More information here: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr...82f58e134fe3f2e

The Animation Picture Company has optioned the rights to turn "Spyro the Dragon" of Sierra Entertainment and Vivendi Game's video game franchise into a 3-D animated film for the big screen.

Steve and Dan Altiere, who penned the fourth installment of Fox's "Dr. Dolittle 4," will write the script, to be based around the recently released "Legend of Spyro" trilogy of games, which is considered a relaunch of the entire series. No director has yet been hired.

Since Spyro's introduction in 1998, game franchise has earned $525 million and shipped over 20 million units worldwide for Sierra, a division of Vivendi Games

Metal Gear

In May 2006, Metal Gear series creator Hideo Kojima announced that a film adaptation of Metal Gear Solid was in development. The film was purported to be in English, though a release date was not yet established.[8] Kojima also announced at the Electronic Entertainment Expo later that month that he had negotiated a contract with a party in Hollywood to adapt the video game into a film.[9]. Kojima also considered Alaska as the site of the film production, due to the game's setting in the state.[10]

In February 2007, Sony Pictures Entertainment announced that it was spearheading the film adaptation for Metal Gear Solid. The studio's vice chairman Yair Landau described the project: "It's a very cinematic game, it really lends itself to movie telling. But the question is, 'How do you translate Snake's experience into a full arc that conforms to what audiences expect on the large screen?'"[11] Screenwriter David Hayter, who has voiced the protagonist in the video games, pitched a script treatment to Konami, but executives passed on the script.
