The Good Samaratins
A Boy Scout troop had a meeting on Saturday and were already half an hour late to the den meeting. Part of the code of conduct required that the Scouts be at the meeting in a timely manner.
The den leader was furious, since this was the third time in a row they were late. He asked them angrily, “Did you perform the good deed of social assistance as I asked of you last meeting? Why are you so late?” The boys thought about it for a moment.
“Oh,” said one boy, “we were helping an old man cross the street.”
The Scout Master couldn't be angry at courteousness. That was the good trait for the Boy Scouts that he asked them to practice. So he smiled cautiously and said, “That’s nice, but it shouldn’t make you half an hour late. What happened?”
“Well, you see,” said another boy, “he didn’t want to go.”
