This is an ongoing story of my custom characters created for Sonic Roleplay, but I never used them as roleplay. The story takes place after all the Sonic Adventure games, including Heroes. The main character is Project GEM 2, known to Sonic and co as Mareo. GEM stands for Genetically Engineered Monster. Mareo is only number two. This will be updated whenever I get the time.
Part 1: Awakening.
"Wh...what? Where am I?" silently mumbled by a red animal. "How did I end up here?...What am I?" again mumbled by this creature. Suddenly, flashbacks to a laboratory and painful process appear in this creature's mind. After the final flashback, the capsule that this creature was kept in bursts open. As the green liquid pours from the capsule, a small red animal slips out. As he stands, he looks at a computer which states "RELEASE IN 0:00:00". He then knew that he was an experiment, since there was a billboard with his picture and anatomy posted all across the bottom. One picture shows a beautiful young woman holding onto a smaller version of this creature, and then it has her date of death. Three days before he was released.He searches the room in hopes he'll find out what has been done to him. His reading skills are not very well, but somehow he knew what they said. He has psychic powers. Only three. The rest is missing, so he must find out what they are by himself.
After learning of his psychic prowess, he continues searching the lab. not too long after he finds the notes, he finds a small video tape and a VCR. HE places the video into the VCR, then plays it. A beautiful young girl who the creature recognized is on the tv. Her message is " Young Mareo. If you are reading this, you have learned by now that I am dead, and what you are capable of. I was against using you as a project, but my father forced me to use you. Your real form is a SKRREEECH*crackle* ..." Mareo then hits the VCR since it is jammed. It starts up again and continues " Psychic powers. You are to collect all seven of the chaos emeralds to restore your body. Please, I may not see you, but I know you can become what you once were. Don't give...*BOOM*" "What?!?" yells Mareo. Above him stand a tall figure that is wielding a gun. Upon further investigation, it's a robot.
He jumps back, and rears his hand back. He asks what the robot destroyed the tape for. A voice from the PA system states " All units must enter the cryo lab. Breach of deadly contaminent. I repeat, All units must enter the cryo lab. Breach of deadly contaminent." Not too long after that, an entire army of robots arrive. Mareo then trys to escape through a vent in the wall, and successfully escapes. But, he's now lost in the vents. After an hour of roaming in the vents, he finds a room with a chaos emerald. He grabs it, then somehow senses where the next one is. He breaks through the wall with the power of the emerald, and arrives in a dark jungle.
Hours of wandering around in this jungle has made Mareo lost and tired. As he gets under a tree to examine the emerald, a quick strike to his neck is suddenly applied. As he hits the ground, he only sees a blue blur running into the distance. "Who...was..." Mareo passes out. After hours of being unconcious, he awakens in a hut. Big the Cat pulled him out of the storm, but was sleeping. Mareo runs outside, and looks around. He remembers the hit, all the way to the pain. He vows to destroy whoever did that to him. Mareo's calm nature has become violent.
Part 2: Sonic did it?!?
Days of wandering through the streets of unfamiliar towns and the sands of unfamiliar deserts has made Mareo tired. He knows where the next emerald is, but not what part of the world. Continuing through the desert, Mareo sees many things that he's never seen, and enjoys his rushing. After even more days, he finds himself back in the jungle where Big lived. He wanders into the forest again, just to get out. Not too long after he started,a battle could be heard not too far away. Mareo rushed to the battle to see who it was. Sonic was fighting a big robot with Eggman at the helm. Suddenly, Mareo has a flashback to when he was hit. The blue figure he saw, according to memory, was Sonic! Mareo also saw a chaos emerald in Eggman's robot. This was the emerald Mareo sensed. In a burst of anger, Mareo rushes towards eggman's machine and destroys it. While looking at the emerald, Sonic walks over and says " Wow, you're strong. Could I have my emerald?". Mareo responds " No. How about you give me back the emerald you stole from me?". After that, Mareo used his tail to hit sonic across the head, knocking him out. After searching sonic, he finds no other emerald. "I'll let you go this time Sonic, but the next time we meet, you'll be destroyed.". With that, Mareo runs away into the jungle.
Part 3: Knuckles
Knuckles is relaxing in front of the master emerald, not a worry for once. then, he hears something rustling in a bush behind him. As he goes to investigate, he sees a chao. "Heh. I thought you were a thief little guy." Knuckles scoffs. Then, he senses something wrong. He turns around, and Mareo's standing at the master emerald. Knuckles yells " Get away from that emerald!". Mareo just stands, staring at the emerald. " I'll give you one last chance to leave!" replies Knuckles. Again, Mareo ignores him, and moves his hand to touch the emerald. "That's it, you've asked for it!" yells Knuckles. In a rage, Knuckles runs toward the mutant with his fists ready. in a moment's notice, Knuckles trips from some mysterious object. As Knuckles gets up, he does not see Mareo anymore. "What the... Who was that? And where did he go?" Knuckles says in a confused manner. Suddenly, Knuckles is struck down by a mysterious hit. Nothing was behind him, and whatever it was, Knuckles couldn't sense its presence. Mareo then appears next to the fallen echidna, and then delivers a mighty kick to his chest, knocking Knuckles off of Angel Island. He falls into the ocean, not to be seen for a good time. " This emerald must not be very strong if it was left protected by a weakling." Mareo then says. Then, Mareo dissapears to find the next emerald. Knuckles swims to the shore, panting from his pain. "I'll destroy that..that thing. If it's the last thing I do!". He then sees two chaos emeralds. Slowly moving toward the emerald is none other that Dr. Eggman. "Oh no, why him now?" Knuckles says. Knuckles ducks behind a rock to evade Eggman's sight, but as he hides behind the rock, an explosion ocurs. Knuckles looks up to see Eggman gone, the machine destroyed, and the emeralds MIA.
Part 4: The biggest stash of emeralds ever
Mareo's collection of emeralds has jumped to three. The silver, the Yellow, and The Teal. " Let's see, where is the next...Haha, there it is." . Mareo sees a laboratory upon a mountain in a canyon. "There are three of them there. Hahahaha! I'll have all of them in no time.". Mareo rushes towards a city to find a map. Of course, everyone is scared of him since he's a monster to them. He find a map, and notices he just passed the canyon he was to go to. On his way, he meets a young rabbit girl. He asks her why she is in the middle of the jungle. The young girl replies " My chao was taken into the forest by a mean robot! I came to resue him, but I can't fight the robot. *She starts crying* I hope they don't hurt Cheese...". The young girl then falls to her knees. Mareo, being the rude monster he is, just says " Well, If I see it, I'll get it. I'm very busy, so I may miss it by accident.". "Thank you sir!" The young girl answers. "May I ask your name?" she replies. "It's none of your buissiness little girl." Replies Mareo. With that, he rushes into the forest to get to the canyon.
He sees the robot that has the chao, but he doesn't really care. It was not in his direct path, so he ignores the troubled chao. After about thirty minutes, he arrives at Eggman's base. "Hmm...this base looks like that crack pot Eggman." Replies Mareo. "Well, I guess I shall destroy his base in the process". After he finishesd talking, a large army of robots arrives from nowhere. One flying robot says "You're surrounded! Hand over he chaos emeralds!"Mareo laughs, and dissapears. He used the emerald to turn invisible. "What?!? Where is he?" states a ground tank. Out of the blue, every robot is destroyed in a blink. Mareo reappears, with his hand blade extended by thirty feet. He cut down every robot with that one slice. "Pathetic machines." Replies Mareo. He then infiltrates Eggman's base, finds the armory, sets a timed bomb for thirty minutes, and runs to the control room. Eggman greets Mareo, and before anything can be said, the building explodes. Mareo grabbed the emeralds that were behind eggman, but only got two of them. Mareo dissapears, and arrives outside of the building, hoping for the emerald he missed to fly out. Luckily for him, it does. He now possesses 6 of the emeralds. Now he needs the final one, the one that Sonic stole. Eggman, in the rubble, replies " Darn it monster... Metal...Son...ugh...." Eggman faints.
Part 5: Final Emerald, Final Battle
Sonic is running around, trying to find the monster that beat him down.
