It is time to get these memories out. I desire to share what I saw of my old home with others. There were some good things, but the bad outnumbered the good. I remember it all very vividly. I will start with the good. I used to be able to see it and my beloved volcano each day. The morning I would awake and see the snow covered peak of Mt. Etna and on the way to school I would see the sprawling coast line near Catania and The little bay there. At night You could almost make out the southern shore line from my bedroom balcony. I miss the sea breezes that would come in the summer. The salt in the air, the soft sent of fish. I remember the cities and how full of life they were, even the "small" towns had as many as 15,000 people in them. The best place to go on a nice summers day would have to be the Port city of Catania. Well that is if you love shopping and don't mind people. Many things were peaceful there. There were a lot of old people. A lot of them I tell you. My brother and I went there when I was 6 along with our new family. It had been a year since our grandparents had adopted us. My first day of school I was scared, who wouldn't be? There were people who hated me right away, I was all alone in my first grade class. But when I was there for a week this little red haired boy talked to me. A month after that he left the island. I looked more to the surrounding for amusment then the people who hated me. At 7 I had become the type of person who only let a certain type of soul in to my little world. I never asked for help and it peturbed my teacher. Back to the scenery! There was litlle greenin Sicily. Oh for those of you who haven't figured it out or pulled up a map Sicily is that nice triangular island that is a providance of Italy -_-; Anyways! There are few trees on Sicily but the few that there are are mostly of fruit types. Olive and orange are prominant as are lemons. Then there is this type of nut that I can not spell so I won't even try to. Their food is wonderful, but they do eat horse, rabbit, sheep, calves (veal), ducks, geese and a few other animals. I disliked that part. I only eat beef, chicken and pork. Sometimes not even those >.<. The Sicilians are shrewwed people with good morals. They don't gripe, they don't complain but my god do they love to talk! Dinner is always after 8 PM and is NOT the biggest meal of the day; though it does have at least 2 courses -_-. Another thing I absolutely loved about Sicily was the fact that they hada WIDE variety of farm animals. There were herds upon herds of Sheep, though they were uber skinny emo and goats. Love the goats! LOVE THEM! Teehee. Over there if you so much as hit the animal with your car then not only do you pay for that animal but EVERY SINGLE animal it could have had in its life. Harsh. Thats a little of the good and a little of the not so good. Here is the bad.
The cops, their more corrupt then in the big cities of the USA. They are called the Carbineri (I think thats how you spell it -_-;; They and the Mafia are the two main powers in Sicilian government. The Mafia aren't as bad as portrayed in the movies people! If you don't ******** them over they won't bother you. Nice concept si?
No I did not learn Italian. I do know a few words that I SPEAK out loud, not on the computer -_-.
That is all!
