haha same here too. I was confused at first when the episodes held no continuity at all... Then I found out (through the all-knowing website that is wikipedia...) that the producers aired it the wrong way intentionally..
As to why though, let's chalk that one up to Haruhi-ism...

I thought it was great. what was confuzing what the order of the episodes were out of chronological order.. it was weird.
have u tried watchin it in both anachronic and chronological order...it gives u two different tastes of the anime wink ...anachronic is a bit trippy, but it was oddly fun surprised
but yea...i heart Haruhi and can't wait till season 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've read the manga, but I just can't find a good torrent to download the series. So I haven't seen the anime...yet.
