question about Jadzia Dax from DS9

I just started watching DS9, and i am confused about Jadzia Dax. Can anyone tell me about her?

I havn't watched DS9 for.. Years.
I think she's a Trill.
Trill can be joined with deceased Trill as a symbiont.
So, like, shared consciousness.

ok gotcha...so that other guy, her former life or whatever, who made the blood oath with the klingons, died and then shared consciousness with her...ok got it.
