whats the purpose of cutting

idk, i know some do it to relieve stress *guilty*, some for pain, enjoyment, the sheer pleasure of watching blood drip down their appendages, if u cut, why?

I used to cut but it was a long time ago, about 5 years now. I did it because I got high all the time and was young and stupid and got depressed because I couldn't be high all the time. And saw someone I idolized on tv do it, so I tried it and got hooked because it gave me some kind of release for my emotions. People say I did it for attention but I never told anyone I did it and always wore long sleeved shirts to hide them. I never went, "HEY I CUT! LOOK AT ME, HELP ME!" So...I don't think I did it for attention.

I did it to relieve stress too. Sometimes school got to be too much and my family expects me to be perfect so I got overwhelmed. I got over it though by playing online games and creating RP characters. It's a great way to stop cutting. ^_^

I thought of doing it a few times, so I won't hurt emotionally, just physically. Then there is all the stuff one can do instead of cutting themselves. The amount of time you can put into one video game is astounding, let alone a whole libaray of them.

I use to cut.
It was beacause I got pissed at my parents. And it was a habbit.
My ex stopd me from cutting.
I only did it once, it was cause I was bored. : S

i did it cause it was a good way to release my emotions, and i never cut on my wrist, i didn'twanted to die and i didn't wanted that anyone notice them... i just wanted to feel better for a bit..... i know that wont help to solve my problems but at least it helps me to feel a lot better

I cut becuase I had no control over anything. I was fighting in school. I was alway in the office for something or another. I counld do anything I wanted to. I couldn't dress the way I wanted to. I could wear my hair the way I wanted to. I couldn't speak my mind. I didn't even eat in the lunch room beacuse every sat there and said "You shouldn't eat that, Your Fat", so I'd take my lunch and so in the abandon bathroom .I got sick of everyone saying I couldn't do this or that. Or to stop the babyfied bull s**t. In short stop acting like a rebel beacuse you ain't s**t. I only had one friend or so I though turns out she was talking s**t behide my back so I beat her a** in front of the whole school. suddenly I had tons of FAKE friends now all of them talk s**t behide my back. I could take my anger out on the people who made my life a living hell beacuse I was one fight away from getting kicked out of school. So I started cutting my self but no for long beacuse every skinny b***h with a boy friend who cheated started cutting them self in the same bathroom I hid in every day. I'd burn my self with hot bobby pins or cigs in stead of cutting. I hid them under hoodies for a long time but hey you'd die in the summer heat if you wore a hoodie all day. so I started burning my chest. but I got really sick and the doctors found the burns. I still self harm sometimes. And I still feel like a did when I did cut. But I can't stand looking a the scars all over me so I'm trying my hardest to stop.

Okay, okay, this is rather amusing.
I can now honestly say that I have cut, once. ONCE.
It was rather funny, really. There's a girl at school that always has to b***h at me. Well, I was sick of it. I pulled out a safety pin, jabbed at my wrist (across), and said "Well you know what? You know a sad little emo kid now! So go and tell your mommy that there's a freaky girl at school that just cut herself in front of you!"

She got so pissed and stalked off. This was a few months ago. I totally forgot about it.

I used to cut... still do, in point of fact. I do it to relive stress, to numb my mental pain, and sometimes just to feel alive. I don't cut for atention, so I cut my shoulders. People who cut for "scene points" scare me. How far can you go to be a poser?

LMAO!! lol I did something like that once, but it wasn't cutting. It was sewing thread through the skin of my wrist. This girl was being a git, so I sewed "F---OFF SL--" on my wrist and showed her.
(read - I gave her the finger with my wrist out, so she could read it.)
She was so freaked, sho screamed.
