`~..::♥Smoothie's Sketch Diary♥::..~`
About Me:
Hii there! My name is Smoothie or you can call me Jojo if you prefer that :]] I'm 15 and I've been drawing oh since.. sailor moon came out. <--biggest inspiration for me as a kid! i haven't really taken art that seriously, just drew as a hobby and stress reliever. BUT! Just recently I've decided to major in art, cause it seems there's nothing else i can do better :[] i personally want to expand/branch out on art as much as possible, and am seriously dedicated to learn more, i even start sweating[?] and get really excited when i come across a new style/type of art sweatdrop yes i know i'm weird lawl.

Terms of drawing:
i actually don't know much about my own drawing [weird huh?] but from other and my perspectives, i usually have very clean simplistic lines, with use of pastel colors, but i like a variety of colors xD. Practically all my drawings seem soft, too soft, they lack the clashy bold colors i want Dx i equally like traditional and digital medias, color pencils is my expertise at the moment.
On Critiquing:
PLEASE! don't hesitate to be as HARSH as you want!! be direct and point out ALL the mistakes you want to mention!! i take critiques pretty well, so it won't bother me at all x] i want honest direct truth instead of something where i have to decipher it. nono. so have fun tearing my art apart as much as you want <3

Hmmmm... I see, I think you need to do some basic drawings. do some basic shapes i.e. square, circles etc... for exercise, Keep scribbling to a minimum and if possible do the desired lines[drawing] with a single stroke. learn some basic technique like hatching here is a tutorial http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/farp/theart/jesspencil/jesspencil.html you can get more about technical drawing here http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/farp/art.html
For anatomy, do some nude illustrations; if possible get a medical anatomy book and draw the muscles or at least get some ideas what muscles are involve to give shape to the human body.
For motion... this thread is not enough to explain it, however I recommend Ron Tiner 'Figure drawing without a model' you may find it on libraries [art section] or just buy one http://www.amazon.com/Figure-Drawing-Without-Model-Tiner/dp/0715306464 it has all the essentials for illustration, I'm still using it for reference for more than 10 years.
For now, get a firm foundation on the basic medium *PENCIL* once you understand it, it can be applied to almost all of the mediums... now I'm not saying you should drop other mediums, but give extra time on pencil.
Best wishes to your artistic journey.

http://i10.tinypic.com/4qds95k.jpg I am totally in love with this picture, the "scribbles" the hair was filled in with really give it some nice texture/depth/whatever. While I agree that it's important to make good, fluid strokes, I only apply that so far as the lineart itself. Once you have a basic figure drawn, I'd hoonestly say to go hogwild with scribbleshapes. If done appropraitely, they can add a lot of interest and detail to a picture.
Something like http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/45481521/ from your deviantart is a very different sort of style from the other picture, but I am to understand that other one was done with a person as reference? I'd advise working more with reference. When you don't have access to real people, use internet searches. I usually just do google image searches, or the stock section of deviantart, to work off of. From that one specifically though, I know maybe it's a bit dated and you didn't /ask/ about it, but I'd work on body shapes, particularly in the arms, to make sure the arms are proportionately the right lenghts, and also to make them look less like noodle-arms. That is, bulking them up and defining the muslce that would be present. I feel pangs of guilt telling you that because I have this same problem, hahah, so I've got a bit of a pot/kettle thing going on with basically everything I've typed butttt.... I dunno. Maybe it is helpful to you, maybe you disregard everything I've written. Either way, is cool.
