In class we were talking about homosexuality in reagards to the bible and people started to make 'comments' about as they put it "gays and fags". I raised my hand and asked/ordered my classmates to be tolerant and a guy, non too quietly asked, "Is she...". The 'comments kept coming then and the teacher stood by and did nothing as people kept being less than tolerant.
To me their comments were against my cousin since he is homsexual and I got so pissed off that I told the boy, my classmate, off. The teacher then gave me a reprimend. I was so close to being enraged that I did not speak for fear that I would start telling the entire class off and punch a couple in the face, including the teacher. I was never so happy that our class that day was only 30 min. long.

Yeah, I feel bad for you, I've never actually seen people like that here near San Diego. Except a few ganstas and cholos who think its gross and a few overly religious cocksuckers
Yeah, Ida punched a few in the face. That discussion shouldn't come up in school for there are a few things you never speak of: religion, politics, and income

Augh, I loathe situations like that...
Can't say I've ever been in one, but reading about it is almost enough to make me want to be sick. I can't say how I'd react to it either, but it probably wouldn't be pleasant.

But, what class was this, anyway? I mean religion shouldn't enter the classroom unless it's religion studies, or history or something like that...I mean, it just seems like a bad idea to bring this subject up in a regular or public classroom, for obvious reasons...

That is ridiculus!!!! I would have lost control!!! I probably would have punched the teacher calling him or her a homophobic. It sounds like they are to me. People need to get a grip and keep their insulting remarks about gays etc. or they might just get really hurt. evil evil I admire you for not lossing it. Don't let a-holes like that get you down. POWER TO THE PEOPLE!!!

The government in my country wants to ban any lessons about homosexuality, because they consider it "promoting deviations".

You should report it to higher authorities in your school, such as the principle. Especially since you did nothing wrong, and were getting scolded.

I also would've gone to the principal or an important authoritive figure but you deserve props for keeping your cool, I think. Honestly since I'm from a large city in California and currently live in W.V. I know what your feeling because there are So many people out here like that. Which is why when were in british literature a.k.a. english 12, I generally get into large arguements with a whole lot of the class; though my close friends are usually backing me up on the gay subject. But honestly good job not maulling them because I definately would've. ^^

Report it to the head teacher =/ a teacher isnt aloud to stand by while a student or there familly members are being insulted in a vulgur manor =/

In my school they never actually talk about this stuff, at least not in class. But when I boasted about reading shounen-ai and yaoi, some of my friends either stared at me weird or flinched. In the end, I gave them no choice anyway. You accept me for who I am, period.
