I browsed back a few pages, and I didn't see a topic like this, so I made it.
What music do you all like that isn't oh so gawth? Any classic rock, country, or rap artists that just stand out to you?
Personally, I love Lynyrd Skynyrd. Free Bird is one of my all time favorite songs. I also love Akon for some reason.
There's a ton of bands and artists I could name like this
Cyprus Hill The Who Pink Floyd Johnny Mandel Johnny Cash The list goes on, man.

I love loads of different music.
Like; Queen, Dire Straites, The Who, Snow Patrol (Lol, chav anthems...) Sunna... REM, &Bobby Darrin!
I dont really understand how someone can only like just one specific type of music. That's just alien to me.

Oh! Oh! I listen to 80s pop bands and Folk Comedians and some country (like K.D. Lang and a few random assorted other things that somehow weaseled their way into my CDs) Why just go with one genre? Hell, I listened to CDs that would skip from Alice Cooper to german beer garden songs when I was little. Hooray for variety

By that point in the night, everyone is too blitzed to care anyway.

Too many to list, really...
However, to be broad, I also like:
Break-beat (MSI, Retard-o-bot, Uncle Outrage, Vyncent Flaw, etc.) Proto-punk (MC5, Iggy Pop, New York Dolls, Velvet Underground, etc.) Electronica (Ville Nueve, The Knife, De/vision, etc.) Synth-pop (Apoptygma Berzerk, Frou Frou, Royksopp, Audiobullys, etc.) College Rock (Pulp, Neutral Milk Hotel, Dinosaur Jr., The Dears, etc.) [Also known as "Indie Rock"] Hip-hop (Grand Master Flash, DJ Kool Herc, Immortal Technique, Five Deez, Nujabes, K-Os, etc.)
As well as a fairly large cross-section of jazz and classical.

Rellik San HA! At least its not take that or boyzone. Oh, gods *crawls under table and hides* I felt a particular pang of dissapointment that Take That had returned; I was convinced I'd heard one of them had died, thus scuppering any come-back. Darn.

Hmm, actually, I don't really listen to goth rock-- Joy Division and the Cure are about as far as I go. I don't even listen to metal. XP
I'm actually more of a college rock geek; I really enjoy the local punk and ska bands in my town. Canadian indie these days is really... amazing.
