pls read 1st and 2nd post
okay my peers always hate it when asians are labeled like nerds and
other stuff so heres what we do(and we arent),some of the tips are true like #3 what i want to get out of school
1.when a person ask you why are doing good on every subject say
i only do it cuz i want some stuff that my parenys will give me
or
the reason im good is i want my parents to give me more freedom(everybody knows when your doing good your parents is not as irritating as they use to)
2.when there's a academic question you know do this plsss
dont raise your arms immediately
and
look around if no one raises their hands
and
raise your hand really really low
and
answer the question as if u were questioning the teacher
like: umm is it umm (answer)
3.If your entering an academic contest do this and some non-asian say why are joining? say
like duh so i could get out of this school
and
more time away from my parents
4.well i was wearing glasses(but now on contacts that changes the color of my eye) at one point so here's a tip to not be mistaken as nerd,say
im emo(random suggestion hahahaha)
ohh this arent reading glasses these are the really expensive light sensitive glasses you knew the one that can change into a sunglasses when im out in the sun
5.when someone labeled your an asian nerd just
Beat the hell out of them(nerds can't fight right most of them are pacifist)
yup it does work ,the shuriken necklaces i bought in hottopic does the job wink
6.dont dress like a nerd(obvious)

one thing though
1. im not saying all asians are labeled as nerds
2. im proud of my grades
3. i dont give a damn what those people, think but for once in a while you want to laugh at them thats why im make this thread
4. i always got straight A's and i like it becase i can have a good chance in a big college for my future and i get free stuff 3nodding from my parents
5. scream im not saying i hide them always (especially when summer is near and all dumb mean people got to go to summer school and we don't)

Actually I don't care what the hell people stereotype me
as.... People should just accept others the way they are.

What AZN Passion said. Not all Asians are labeled nerds. And if they are, so what? So some of them are a little bit more overachieving and hardworking than others to get better grades, so what? I actually admire them. rolleyes

lol actully many asians i know are proud of their "nerdy-ness"
They all work hard because that way they can be more satisfied (lol, so not me though, i just work only hard enough to get an A, i dont really bother with a high A xd )

I dont give a crap what people say about me. I just do what I want if im interested. I only answer questions when I want the teacher to move on to something else because the others just answer it wrong resulting in another drawn out explanation. I'm lazy therefore I dont do my work unless I don't know when it is due.

Hmm. Like others have said, not all Asians are labeled as nerds. confused
But thanks for telling us what you think.. some others probably think that way too.
I personally don't really care about what they stereotype me as. Emo, nerd, geek, dork, w/e. I fit under all of those, and don't really care. As long as they don't go into criticism against race, then it wouldn't really matter to me. ^-^

I think that's a ridiculous idea for posing.
If you're going to do good in school, then keep at it.
Anyone who negates such effort may be a deadbeat in the works.
I'll compose a scenario:
Person 1: Haha, you're such a freaking nerd. That is so lame.
Person 2: Haha, i'm going to get a well-paying career, while you work at a McDonalds or Wal-Mart under minimum wage.
Or, you could continue to live the life of a poser, and try to get good grades at the same time.

i agree with sdes.
i used to not study, and i've moved to australia now, and i studied really hard and got 98% for math. made me really happy. my friends here all get marks like 40-60, but that doesnt make them label me nerd or anything.

Because trying to change to impress your friends (or random peers) is an idea i'm not fond of. If you have to change yourself to be with certain people, then there's not much use hanging around them - unless there's something positive coming out of it.

i mean, studying is for your future(well if you want to be some professionals)
then, study!
it's working towards whatever you want and i see nth wrong.
PS. people in asia, those who get good grades, are mostly those who are cool and have style and confidence.
(: ignore the stereotypes. do what you want and be yourself.

I don't care what people say about me. At least teachers won't be with me when i need help. Plus I want to get a good job unlike some people can be doing some labouring job for all I care
Also when they call you "asian nerd" just think well they aren't better than you in and subjects and when they ask YOU for help. Just tell them off and then they would have wished they never made fun of you. I just love to do that! heart
