Okay, total n00b to the whole wargamming thing, so I was wondering, whats the best kind of paint to use on these things?
I currently have a large stock of Tamiya Model Paint I bought a while back to make my Gundam Models look nice, would that be alright to use?

No idea. Acrylic based based are good.
It's best to undercoat as well.
Check the GW site if you want to gain a basic knowledge of painting.

I've only ever used GW paints though.

Tamiya is good quality paint, though you'll have a hard time understanding other people going on about the Citadel colours that they use.

Citadel colours are expensive mind you, as well.

Err, yeah. If you're poor.

It's worth the money to get a full set of Citadel Inks. I've done more with the Inks than I could ever do with paint alone. You'll want to use a flat/matte spray-coat after using Inks, though, otherwise they leave a shine.

...
Right, this makes a tad of sense
I think I'll just stick with my Taiyama's for my first set (Which is most likely to be space marines anyway, and I've got plenty of that perfect Ultramarine Blue left over from my Gouf Custom project)
Oh, and while were at it, any suggestions for brushs as well?

That is most probably the spelling yes.

Oh, a question of a similar topic. Is it nessecary to put a primer on your models before your paints? And what does the primer do, so to speak?

I reffer to in general. Sure 3 dollars is not much. But you have to think about the simple fact that you are paying 3 dollars for a urine sample sized pot of paint. It will last you through many models and is good paint, yes, but it is surely expensive in overall value.

9 dollars for roughly 1.2 oz of paint.

Tell me again... one more time, if it is not expensive.

Helps the paint stick to the models better.

What the guy above said!

Aaaaand, it helps bring out the colour better, provide some instant shading if using black.

Maaaaaaybe you should give this book a try.

This can be proportional value. $4 would be considered a small amount by itself, but then apply that to say, a soda bottle. Then its expenisve.

And soem of us like myself ARE poor.
