Here's an open debate: the lyric in "the Sharpest Lives"...Is the shot a needle {think Green Day's "Novacaine"}, a bullet {let's go for it, maybe the person he's talking to could heal him?}, or he wants some more alchohal {"drunk, I suppose"}? Let's hear what you think!

I'm going to go with needle since Gerard is scared of them. also, needles can kill (poison) or it can inject some kind of drug so that covers two bases...

G always said that when he got drunk, he did stuff that put his life in danger, so maybe this could be him talking about what the after effects of that could be. But yeh, it's definitely drugs or drink, whatever happens.

Well, the next sentence is
"And you can take all the pain away from me"
which would have to do with alchohol, since it temporarily "numbs"
emotional pain...

well seeing as gerard was an alcoholic, and alcohol temporarily makes emotional pain go away, i think he's talking about a shot of alcohol.
The more important thing is its that its a song, and each person should decipher there own meaning from the lyrics. 3nodding

hmm for some reason that part of the lyrics never clicked in my head. but now that you mention it....I think they are talking about a needle...maybe to numb the pain...like morphine or somthing. I dont know thats just me, personaly i dont see how getting drunk can solve any problems or take any pain away...its always going to be there no matter how high or our of it you are.. but i guess it could be anything your imagination conjures up...-ponders-

Interesting. I just assumed that it was a needle. I didn't really stop to think that it could be something else. I figured that since the main character is The Patient, he was begging for some stronger meds.
