I will bypass the typical "closeness to the gods, and making my own rituals, etc". Important, yes, but:
I am shamelessly devoted to Dionysos. I make no bones about it, I'm not a henotheist, but sometimes, I feel like I get close.
There is nothing like sacred madness. Nothing. It is exciting and scary and every contradiction combined. I love it. It's not something I want all the time, as its not always a desired state, but it is beyond words.
(That also said, the accuracy of Oracles. I'm rereading one that I got a month ago, and it is currently making me uncomfortable with its accurateness. DAMN IT, NOW I HAVE TO WORK.)

the ability to look at all the scholarly data we have abounding, say "hey, they did this back then, let's try it," do it, then find out that the scholarly data was wrong and find out the real way, then say "whoops, how bout we try it the real way," and then potentially saying "well, that last way sucks. let's do the first one," "well only if we say that it's actually personal gnosis".
just the sheer honesty of it all.

Deandriea TeaDidikai Nuri There is nothing like sacred madness. Nothing. Contested. Sacred Humor. lol I second that one. Q--What's one thing you never have to worry about? A--Your airplane being hijacked by a group of radical Unitarians. No, but you do have to worry about God's Dog eating all your doughnuts.
