Here in dear old Bedford we get a few winter migrants each year, escaping from the Arctic chill.Native wildlife too move into gardens in search of food. In past years I`ve seen Merganser, Smew, Goldeneye,Pochard,Shellduck,Whooper Swan and even Barnacle Geese both on the river and at a local lake.Firecrests,long-tailed-tits and fieldfares visit our garden. So, what manner of winter visitors are seen in your "local patch"? as Saint Bill of Oddie would say.

This particular patch of Wales seems a bit too desolate for birds. Even omnipresent species like seagulls and pigeons can't usually hack it.
Apparently there's a wolf hanging about somewhere though, which would be cool.

There doesn't seem to be a huge amount of winter migrants round here, at least not that I've noticed. The mice have decided it's too cold outside so have made themselves comfortable, despite my parents best efforts. The crows have grouped. A few wrens, plenty of seagulls and pigeons. Usual culprits. The geese headed straight over as usual.
We did get a stork a wee bit back. And promptly had a population explosion of birdwatchers.

My garden gets the occasional Robin, though now the fat pigeon has come back. I honestly don't know how it can still fly...
Did anyone watch Planet Earth last night?

confused They had a whole herd of them. But the neighbours pet carnivore thing ate most of them.
No idea how she got this one as a pet though. He'll sit on your lap and everything. But only if you give him loads of fresh bread.

Several billion geese have made the neighbors field into their new home. Isn't it quite late for heading south?

Wow I want a pet phesant. Our town is right next to a big house thing with grounds (word for that?) so there are always loads death-defying on the roads. Or not death defying on the roads sometimes. I had a pet sparrow once that I found - It only had one wing bless it.
