I was just wondering if BL/Yaoi/Shonen-Ai could only apply to anime and manga. Must every other type boy/boy fanfic be labeled "slash"? Does the terminology matter that much? I've just been wondering this because I've seen many "wars" about this kind of thing.
On a side note, is anime/manga your only source of boy/boy love? Where else do you see boy/boy love? And yes, I allow you to count fanfic couples whee

hm...this might be completely wrong but slash to me means that it has to pair someones together while yaoi, etc, could be canon. so i don't see how it has anything to do with whether something is anime/manga or not.
Slash came from I think the Star Trek verse and spread to comics, aka non Japanese manga, later, etc, so it's basically the american version of yaoi/BL/shounen-ai...almost.
Slash: I'm slashing so and so together. You don't really say I'm yaoi-ing so and so together. The only difference for me between slash and yaoi, etc. is the slight diff. in definition (for me) so that slash can be used as a verb while yaoi, etc. are usually not. Slash as a word has more similarities to 'ship than yaoi/BL/shounen-ai
Usually, I'd say, I'm slashing so and so therefore it is yaoi/BL/shounen-ai. I'm slashing Neji and Naruto. I'm a Neji/Naruto shipper. I'm a Neji/Naruto slasher. I ship Lily and Snape. <<I'm a Lily and Snape shipper. I ship James and Remus. I slash James and Remus? etc.
