This is just a thought that has been on my mind for a while. If you jumped on the bandwagon during their Bullets album, why do you continue to listen to them?
I have heard all three albums and appreciate all of them, and I myself have hopped on the bandwagon during the Three Cheers album. And I can easily imagine someone going from the Three Cheers or Black Parade album to the Bullets album, but how can someone love Bullets and then hear Three Cheers/Black Parade and still love MCR? gonk They're completely different sounds; Bullets seems to appeal to only one type of listener, while Three Cheers and Black Parade appeal to many different tastes of music.
So I ask you Original Bullets Fans: Why do you continue to listen to MCR?
I hope this made sense ;-; And I hope you guys understand what I'm trying to get at. Also, this thread was not meant to offend anyone. Just want some thoughts and opinions on the matter. =D

We'll carry on! Bullets was already really good. Then when Three Cheers came, they were still good.

Most people, if they are sensible and reasonable will appreciate a band for their music and more importantly see a band grow and spread their vision and sound even further. Now I "hopped on the bandwagon" during Three Cheers, and I have Bullets on my CD rack and yeah they are SO different! Now consider this, for someone who started listening to the band at their second album appreciate and love the first album wouldn't that be similar to the people who started with the first album and loving the second album? Also consider this, as a fan wouldn't you feel ripped off if the band that you love so much brought the same thing to the table every time wiht no improvement? An for your first question, if you liked the first album Bullets, why wouldn't you want to listen to the next album and the next? MCR did recieve alot of bad critique from their underground fans when Three Cheers was release. But I think it was only because the fans were afraid that the bigger they got the less special and truthful they'd be. However the reality is that MCR never sold out, they are still special and truthful and I think eventually alot of their underground fans are back on the bandwagon.

I became a fan during 'revegne' but the first stuff I heard was fram 'bullets' coz I decided to download the first album first. I love 'bullets' and I love 'revenge and 'the black parade' too. Theres an evolution each new record. It would be kinda lame if they didn't evolve and just kept putting out the same record.

i started liking them when three cheers came out but the first album i got was bullets then three cheers for sweet revenge.
sure they're different sounds but they still sound like MCR,besides do you really want to listen to a band who's records all sound exactly alike?

While each CD is a totally different style, it's still really good - you can like more than one style of music.
And I wouldn't really want to keep listening to them if all their CDs sounded very similar. With My Chemical Romance, each CD is totally new listening experience. It's also nice to hear that they're evolving and maturing each album they put out.

Okay, Its like this.
I am a huge fan of Bullets, more so than any other cd MCR has, or almost any OTHER cd (including Bullet For My Valentine, even though it pains me to say it is so.)
I was a 3 Cheers fan. Hopping on the bandwagon after listening to Im Not Okay, like alot of fans now yes?
Well, as soon as I got 3 Cheers, and fell in love with it, the obvious thing to do would be to go to their previous cd/s. Which I did.
I ended up liking Bullets more than 3 Cheers, even though 3 Cheers originally made me like MCR.
Its just all in your personality I guess.
Since Bullets, I have moved onto more punk/metal bands than the pop/punk/rock that 3 Cheers had.
Its what you like really.
And because I love Bullets and that punkier/metal feel to MCR, you can imagine my disappointment at TBP, which is NOTHING like it.
But hey, bands change.
MCR has 3 times now.
I love Bullets, coz it fits more to my preferred type of music.
I love 3 Cheers, coz it gave me MCR in the first place and so many memories are attached to that album.
I love The Black Parade... Coz... Well... I dont really hehe. But for the point of a debate, because its... different. And it has a rad 1940's war/cirus feel to it sweatdrop
So, yeah,
Leave us Bullets fans alone haha! heart

I started with Three Cheers and for me, the thing that strings all the MCR albums together,
even though they have different sounds and intentions,
are the lyrics, the black humor, and the honesty.
There's something in Gerard's writing style that has tanscended the
different sounds. Bullets is filled with theatrical honesty, if that makes any
sense. With all the vampires and gun fights, there's still this honesty
that they have that you can relate to. One of my favorite songs
"This is the best day ever" begins with being trapped in this dismal
hospital but ends with the feelings of pure joy of just being with someone
who understands. Three Cheers and TBP has that theatrical honesty as well.
They don't seem THAT different to me when I think of it in
those terms. I guess it's all in how you look at it.

Hmmm....your logic is flawed. While maybe some bullets fans might not care for the newer albums that doesn't mean they wouldn't like them. You can't restrict musical taste. That's like saying:
"If you like Cyndi Lauper, you can't like the Sex Pistols."
Well that's not true, I happen to enjoy both. It's also not unheard of for a person to "growth with the band."
So overall, your thinking one dimensionally. You can't label people and you can't label music. Sure put em' genres but they usually overlap.

Does it count if you jumped on in the few last days before Cheers came out? I really agree that Bullets and cheers have really different sounds, but WTTBP sound much more like Bullets than Cheers.

I love bullets, it's amazing.
But I want MCR to grow.
I'm glad they do.
They still do. I have bullets, and I still listen to it.
I love it all.
I'm not someone who hates a band because they change.
I want them to change and grow becaust that's what people do.
I don't want them to be the same everyday of their lives,
because they're people.
Some kids think they can take a band, put it in a jar and make them stay the same forever. But that's cruel.
I look up to MCR.
There's no problem with the new CD's.
I don't think any of the CD's sound the same.
But I do think that's really cool.
