Upon hearing a musical guest on Chapelle's Show, I realized that reggae can often be more dark or chilling than even doom metal.

"If I was President, I'd be elected on Friday, assassinated on Saturday, and buried on Sunday." ~Wyclef Jean on Chapelle's Show

I remember hearing a Martiniquais reggae song titled "La Liberte" which had a haunting vocal element to it throughout, usually involving echoed/chorus-effected falsettos. The video in itself was somewhat "off", so to speak, there were a lot of empty rooms and dark scenes contrasted by scenes of a father playing with his son during a sunset on a beach of Martinique.

What are some of your opinions on reggae? Keep in mind, I'm not asking about the stereotyped reggae that just promotes marijuana- I'm asking about all reggae, especially deep-cut underground musicians.

Discuss.

While in areas I find the music pleasing to the ears, and very unique.

I prefer the techno-ized version that most do not often here.
Sadly, I lost all the music I had in that style due to a Hard Drive failure. *tears*
