Me too - I'm trying to think positive. He flipped a van over and walked away from that, so hopefully he'll walk away from this.

When I heard about this
I said we should sacrifice the-one-who-isn't-Richard-or-Jeremy
to appease the Top Gear Gods.
confused
I shouldn't be allowed to talk to people, really.

I shouldn't be allowed to talk to people, really. Top Gear needs all 3. I think James is ace. http://uk.news.yahoo.com/21092006/344/top-gear-presenter-300mph-crash.html

Apparantly he's suffered significant brain injuries.
But, medical science is better now than it was 5 years ago. Let's hope he can at least talk and interact even if it takes him longer to regain motor skills (not for the fact that he's a presenter, but because I think a vegetative state would be a nightmare for someone with his energy and enthusiasm, and when I say motor skills I mean movement of arms etc you silly petrolheads).

Hammond is one of my favourite presenters, and I was shocked when I heard about it, but I'm sure he'll be fine smile

He's out of ICU and onto the high dependency ward. Fingers still crossed for him. In the meantime, someone's had a genius idea for people to wish him well and say thank you to the air ambulance that rescued him: http://www.justgiving.com/PHRichardHammond?page=1#donationtable £37.5k in donations raised plus another £10k in tax relief, last time I checked. A much better idea than my original plan to send a get well card c/o Top Gear. DW

That's ridiculous! It was just an accident afterall and reading The Sun this morning (don't comment on that one please) Clarkson was saying they choose to do these risky things themselves. He said Hammond was jumping up and down like Donkey from Shrek shouting "Pick me! Pick me!" To drive that car. How is he going to feel when he finds out the shows been cancelled because of his accident?
It was just an accident, it was no ones fault - so why should the production team and crew etc all be punished over it by losing their jobs?
*Signed*
On another note he was really lucky. He's walking, talking etc which I think is amazing given how fast he was driving.
