...this is borderline spam, given that there's no real topic of discussion, and this is a popularity contest...
Either way, I like Sonic Youth far more. Franz Ferdinand is decent, but Sonic Youth has been good (and stayed good) since before I was born.

To keep this from being as pointless as just posting a band name, please discuss (or at least give one reason) why you perfer one band to the other.

Well, I've never heard Sonic youth, so I have to say Franz Ferdinand. Although sometimes they annoy me.
