Shounen-ai and the Art Arena

Hoooo man. xDDDD So sometimes I post pictures on the Gaia Art Arena (taking your life into your hands, I know). I don't really expect good feedback or anything like that--I have devART for that wink --but it's still fun to show 'em off.

However, posting BL there--I use shounen-ai and BL intermittenly (which is most likely spelled wrong XD), but it's the same thing--will show you VERY QUICKLY what people think of it. It's kind of funny to see how people's opinions of the subject matter will influence their opinion of the art quality.

So, has this ever happened to you? Has the fact that it's same-sex romance (I draw shoujo-ai, too) negated the quality of your art in viewers' eyes? What's the absolute dumbest stuff people have left on your art? Tell your story, yo. x3

I don't draw, but I've seen some pretty awfully stupid comments in my days on other people's art, and oddly enough most are exactly the same as the ones you just mentioned. Some times these illiterate homophobes get so repetive and identical in their pathetic remarks that I almost begin to suspect that they're controlled by an alien hive mind of some sort. No jokes about the Vatican, please.
Think that the only really amusing one I've seen that differs from the ones you've mentioned that I can remember right now would be this one:

xDDDDD I do unrespect teh Engalish langige not! Those are my absolute favourites, for obvious reasons. x3

That's a pretty good image, too--I know I couldn't do muscles like that--but there's just one little thing that bugs me, (it's a small thing, really ._o) and that's Goku's cheek. It bulges out a bit and looks like he's either chewing on something or is oddly mutated. xD But! I like the shoulderblades.

Thats the thing on gaia. If someone does not like the picture they give it a 1 or 2. It can have perfect perspective,shading ect. but if they do not liek the theme they say its ugly. No one looks at talent anymore. |:<

I still do get alot of comments asking if I'm gay/what's wrong with me/etc, but ironically enough those are usually on my other pieces.

I haven't submitted any art in the arena as I have no scanner, and I'm ok at drawing, from my perspective

But anyhow

I only jugde the art by the talent, not by what they do, as talent is much much more important then what the picture itself is.
