She says that's not correct, because God sisn't said that.
After that she asks if I'm chrstian, and I reply yes, but I don't like the way the Church thinks about homosexuality, so he says that if I don't like It, to renounce to my religion.
She says that they don't have thesame rights.
After that, she says that if I think she is homophobic, that I jave to meet her brother, and I reply that It doesn't matters if her brother is more closed-minded, The fact you ARE closed-minded is important.
And I ask her what will happen if she finds out she's lesbian, and she says that's not possible.

Latin American countries are the most religious and most homophobic (I was surprised that Argentina even allowed gay marriage all those years ago) So religion tells them it’s bad and cultural beliefs make them feel like homosexual is an affront to what a man and a woman are suppose to be like. It really isn’t surprising that she reacted that especially being a kid. So far all she knows is what her family/friends/priests tells her.

Also from what I hear, Peru is probably one of the worsts all those points above. I don't even think they've legalized divorces because it's against the Catholic religion. (Don’t quote me on this, I haven’t double checked recently. Though I think my mom would have told me because Primer Impacto would have mentioned it.) I've also heard some exceedingly bad stories about hate crimes in Peru.

Not that I'm saying any of the other countries are better. They I’ve read/heard about pretty nasty stories from all over Latin America I think my sister and I are the only ones in my family who don't find something wrong with homosexuality, let alone read/write slash/yaoi. Well no... I have a cousin in the Domincan Republic who seems okay with it but I've never had a long conversation about it with her. Either way, that's like what... three of us? I have a huge family on both sides.

Agreed. It’s fricken annoying too. They have absolutely no good reasons, most of them piss me off as a feminist too. >< But I some Latin American countries are making good progress. So there’s still hope. :3

That sucks. Those people really make me feel sad and not wanting to leave my contry. sad I'm sorry you had to hear that. I would of swore at her then tell her shes just as bad a Hitler. But hey! Thats just me.

and my family is pretty open-minded
excpet for my dad (-_-" ). My sisters always
bring thier gay friend and I think his ok, nothing really
wrong with him. The only thing they complaint about their gay
friend is that they say gay people usually are smart or good
at fashion or both and that he doesnt have any of those qualities (>.<)
except knowing how to tease in pictures (^o^)~.

Ehh that's basically stereo-typing people though. xD Not all white people can't jump. ;o [bad example i know.... ><;;] And not all blondes are "dumb" either. =3

Usually hardcore religious folks aren't really into the idea that people who are gay are normal and deserve the same rights and liberties that they do.. -rolls eyes- But you know, that's on her for not being more open-minded.
