Buns - Fruit buns are made by aunties and grandmas and often served with a cuppa. It is perfectly acceptable to say "Mmmmm, nice buns Grandma".

Well, for a start, I've forgotten what an eggplant actually refers to anyhoo.
And secondly it probably has something to do with the shape.
*Remembers* isn't it a marrow of sorts?

It's the American word for aubergine, they obviously call it an eggplant because of it's shape, colour and flavour; none of which bear the slightest resemblance to an egg.

Well, there you are. Proof that Americans have no originality; they stole the names of two things and combined them.
Thanks also for the lovely picture of these so-called 'Eggplants' -
stressed I shudder at that word. What's wrong with aubergine?

I suppose that they would just use some ridiculous abbreviation for it like "jeeny".
Just like how they took the humble sausage and called it a "wiener".

How much longer will they steal our language, corrupt it and then say they speak english? stressed
