Im not sure how I should phrase this but I hate a lot of people. I believe that one's goal in life should be to constantly strive for excellence. However I am surrounded by ignorance, religious and social intolerance, envy, and just a complete lack of wisdom. At work, at home, and in the wider society. I hate the people around me. My parents, my boyfriend, the people I thought were my friends are all so stupid. I dont mean only ignorant. I mean ignorant, intolerant of others views, hating others for their sexual orientation. They never even try to see whats beyond what they are taught by their parents or their pastor. I am sneered at when I mention Shakespeare or Homer or philosophy or even the BBC. I wondered how I came to be surrounded by such myopic simpletons, such dimwitted morons who appear quite happy with living in their ignorance and stupidity. A few weeks ago my boss said that a man raping a little girl is not as bad as raping a boy, I asked her why and she said in more colorful words, because one is a**l penetration I could not believe that a 51 year old entrepreneur, a female at that, would say something so stupid. I know I shouldnt hate or judge people but my god there is nothing in them to respect or love and when I try Im only met with scorn and get called names like suck up and uppity. Its lonely being the only one who thinks we should attempt to better ourselves. What do you guys think?

I agree with you about the fact that most people are ignorant, intolerant and refuse to change. But I do not hate them. That much hate has no place in my or anyone else's body. It doesn't make you happy, it sounds like, and I know it didn't make me happy. Nowadays, when I'm met with ignorance and intolerance, I try to educate them. I usually get it thrown in my face, but I keep trying. Perhaps that's insanity, but I do.
Also, try to see it from their perspective. Not everyone is raised in an environment where they're taught tolerance and class. In fact, if I had to go by the people I meet, I'd say very few are. Just keep the few who are willing to change near you and just try to be cordial to the rest of the people you meet.
Also realize that you might be considered intolerant of those who know less than you do. Just because you know something doesn't mean everyone else does, should or will. Try to keep an open mind and realise that not everyone is or should be like you. I've had exactly the same problem as you're having now, and this helped a little. Mostly, since you can't change everyone, you have to change the way you see it if you want to stop hating everyone.
Best of luck.

Good points and I completely agree. However if there were some ray of light somewhere in this dark tunnel of ignorance I could try harder to accept what I cannot change.

When you hate the people that you hate either don't know it or they don't care. It can be frustrating sometimes when the people around you make foolish remarks which may illustrate just how little they know, but it doesn't do one good to stoop to their level of prejudices by hating them in return.

O.o wow- people are amazing. And very irritating. I understand where you're coming from in hating a lot of people because of their intolerance. If you want to hate them, go ahead. I only hate one person (not relevant) but it really bothers me when people are stupid. We all need to learn that every one is equal and stuff like that, but we wont... I personally find that raping in general is wrong and a terrible thing to do. but at least the boy can't get pregnant... I dunno, people are bull headed.

Your boss is an idiot.
Its become part of the world we live in, this all-encompassing ignorance. Hence speeding us to our own destruction, but really, what's the point of hating everyone? Sounds like a gratuitous waste of your time and brainpower. Hate the truly ignorant, but just dislike the borderline.

We live in a world full of morons, ther's nothing we can do. But if we try to beat their ignorance with knowledge, their intolerance with acceptance, and their hatred with love, then we might be able to get somewhere and change things.

Everyone is pretty ignorant in one way or another.... I just don't understand why people hate others based on being different. Too many people are prejudiced... which, prejudgement isn't necessarily always a bad thing, but, when it comes down to hurting others because of your prejudice, it's horrible.

I think I am often surprized at how stupid and blind people are. But I think everybody is that way. Everybody has their own blindspots. I figure some area of my perception is unfairly skewed. I am generally annoyingly... empathetic. But I have my angry points. When I was I kid, I wished that I didn't exist and that humans would go extinct because I saw them as extremely stupid and cruel. I kinda wanted to take over the world and blow it up. But I am less angry and more depressed about it now. I let things go. I try to widen peoples perspective when possible but some people just cant see other peoples point of view.

My, you certainly are surrounded by dimwits, aren't you? (Makes me happy that I only know a select few people and that most of them are either very nice, intellegent, or any combination of the three.)

I know you feel man. I'm always around people who just don't think or try to find out anything about one and another. It makes me really sad. But don't hate so much. It isn't good for the soul and it isn't good for the Earth. Things might feel tough now, but it'll get better. And just remember, there we always be people better then the ones around you.
