The one thing that annoyed me the most after I wrote this poem is that when I first handed it to my Dad to read, he told me it was good, then later, he told me that he didn't even read it. >.> After he did read it, he told me that my poetry was really hard to understand. I was going to explain it to him, but he didn't want me to.
So, out of curiosity, do any of you think you know the meaning to my poem? Wanna take a wild guess? Oh, and feedback is good too. 3nodding

~Swallowed~

I remember how innocent we were,
Running through the leaves,
Climbing every tree
How could we not know how small,
we are only?
We were so limited,
but we still saw
life in a rose.

We are strapped to this time
With sticky fingers, it found
Sepia photographs,
but dropped the key, somehow
I take a second glance
but something's missing
Swallowed
In the tiger's girth.

I pull, my arms raw and thin
Dim shades with out armor
to hold me in my haven.
Pressing tears away
now, slowly stained red.
Broken, with no calling
Silent, with no tool.

In this masquerade
True intentions lay
in shade
Curtains locked in place
So I cannot be found
My eyes are speared
Like cat's
afraid
nobody will read me
they are themselves
Only.

Your whispers sing
messaging my thoughts
curling ends
creating lies.
I reached for security
Too close to the flame
I was burned.
I'll douse you, repress you
clip you away.
the shadow of my being
I'll paint you black,
the creature in the mist
In the big picture, we don't see
but we know
the true power
of inner daemons, and us,
Lost.

I remember how innocent we were
counting ever cloud
catching every dream
Oblivious to the ball and chain
Our feet wet with dew
now blood,
but we still run.

We find new worlds
Our fingers runny with sap
We cling to ghosts
that haunt our hearts
but shine with color
Finally.

To me the poem communicated a sensation of lose, feeling trapped, longing, then the sensation of regain. If I had the time then I'd really sit here and pick it apart but it's getting quite late for me here whee . The words and imagery is wonderful though.

I feel that it is a poem explaining how you are not a child frolicing in the breeze anymore and how you are realizing the differences between life and death but still acknolaging the similarities between them and that there is no afterlife waiting for you in the end...but thats just my opinion and you know what they say about them they are like arseholes everybodys got one...im really depressed right now if you cant tell read my peom please..and remember you cant spell POEm without POE the single greatest most depressing poet and short story teller of all time
