Anyone watched any anime recently? Did you enjoy it? Been quite busy lately myself to keep up with the recent stuff, but I'd be happy to add new shows to my plan to watch list. wink

Yo! just started watching "ORB On the Movements of Earth" yesterday and im HOOKED. Its fantastic. Guess it depends on what kind of anime you gravitate towards tho.
For a definition of "recently," I saw Chainsaw Man back in 2024 and am thinking about it because I read the manga. Honestly, the anime is better. It's so good.
For actually recent recently, I watched 16-Bit Sensation: Another Layer. It was...honestly, I expected something in line with the manga, which was a sort of historical look on eroge game dev in the 1990s. This was a time travel series about an OC who participates in game development as a way to feel fulfillment, because the world we live in is one where you can't feel that while working. It kinda slid off the rails a little at the halfway point, and then completely lost the plot in the last third. I'm really not a fan. I understand that the message of "the time where you could be a person at work has passed; the only way to be treated like a person is to go back in time" isn't something people like to hear, but a rebuttal wasn't given. If anything, at the end, it's just embraced it.
I'm also watching Space Runaway Ideon, which is...honestly pretty normal so far? It's better in regards to sexism than usual, but it's basically a kids' mecha.

I have recently been rewatching Death Note, and I just finished watching The Apothecary Diaries, which is an amazing show, and Ancient Magus Bride, which is one of my faves but I feel like the anime had a really rushed ending, so I plan on reading the manga as well.

I rewatched Trigun recently. Way better than i remember. something about being older with more experienced contextualized Vash a lot more and gave the world more relatability.
i was fixing to rewatch yu yu hakasho next

i keep up with all seasonal anime! i really recommend Gachiakuta if i had to pick just one. it has the most unique artstyle i've ever seen. it's heavily based on punk with the artstyle, the expressions are exaggerated and fantastic, not to mention the author has done a great job actually including fashion in her character designs. the story is absolutely awesome, it has a great sentiment on the value of the things you own and cherishing them. the show also has a lot of commentary on segregation.
I rewatched a few Digimon OVAs. Our War Game (which was part of the Digimon Movie, the part about the virus Digimon taking over the internet), and Hurricane Touchdown (has the 02 cast, also a part of it). Neither of them hold up at all, but Our War Game wasn't bad. It wasn't good, and the dub is better than the sub, but it's an enjoyable watch if you saw it as a kid. Hurricane Touchdown, however... Genuinely, the only positive thing I think I can say about it is that I remembered Chocomon dancing to All Stars by Smashmouth in the credits of the dub and laughed.
Anyway, I plan on watching the pilot OVA (again, part of the Digimon Movie) next. I have higher hopes for this one, given that it was a poor hit with audiences and suits.

Which I just did. Honestly, I liked it. What we got was undeniably a lot better, but it was enjoyable. The movie putting it in as part one was a great call, because it fits perfectly within the context of that. Was neat seeing cameos of the Adventure cast, too.
As an aside, it's amusing pausing at the creation of the digi-egg and seeing biblical references. Even in fiction, I can't escape my country's religion. Oh, cool, my misery rock suggested the Taoist emote when I typed that instead of the cross. Mildly upset and more than a little concerned that it knows I talk about Taoism enough to default to something barely anyone in this country follows.
Anyway, I watched those OVAs because I saw this gif on Tumblr and was like "I wanna see that." Our War Game was also on my "to watch" list anyway, though.
Started my rewatch of my guilty pleasure anime, Rosario+Vampire, it's just as bad as I remember. I recommend it of you are a fan of fanservice-like ecchi, but other than that I watch it because I'm a massive fan of the manga. Manga is better.

Lately, I've been showing people Takopi's original sin since it aired ksdjfkdsmfd it's seriously so good if you like watching messed up/depressing anime.
I cried a lot watching it and I read the manga too when it was still airing bc I was WAY TOO impatient waiting for the next episode sweatdrop
I've also been watching the new season of Panty and Stocking and omg. It's SO GOOD. I was showing my gf the OG anime on Crunchyroll and was so bewildered how much lower the quality is now??? It came out 15 years ago sure, but I remember it always so high def. I like how they have angel boys now, I feel like it's a nod to the fandom gender bending Panty and Stocking since the early days of the fandom whee
