Along the footpath lie a few alcoves adorned with flowers, just perfect for photos or even a moment of romance or two. Feel free to rest here as long as you'd like, speaking with your favorite people and enjoying the springtime breezes.

Cae was still a little surprised that Amelia had agreed to go to the flower dance with him. She was really lovely, and he was... well, not quite as much. Besides, something about her made his cheeks warm sometimes... and mum had squealed at that bit of news. She'd shared her ideas for her outfit, so Cae did his very best to find something he thought would be nice. Hopefully Amelia would like it as well. "So then we practiced how to do feints, and I found out that they're Roxie's favorite move, but she keeps getting thwarted by.... Cae, are you listening to me?" Ceri huffed over at her brother, who looked a bit startled. "Honestly? No... I'm a bit nervous for today, because, well..." He trailed off, his cheeks warming up again.
"Relax, Cae! It's gonna be so much fun! Where did you say you'd meet her?" Ah, good ol' Ceri, ever a beacon of optimism. "Outside, by the benches. We were hoping they'd be less... nuts." He replied, nervously straightening his sleeves. "Oh shoot, I told Lila I'd meet her inside. Okay. Well. You go off to meet her, I'll head inside. We've gotta make sure we get pictures for mum later anyway. Have fun, Cae!" He waved as his sister skipped toward the Great Hall, leaving him alone to walk outside. The setting was truly picturesque, and he hoped it made the day even better for Amelia (and also Ceri and Lila, because he had to support his twin!)
Amelia was having a whole mix of feelings preparing for the ball. She was so excited. She’d been waiting all year for this. But, she was also decently nervous. She honestly hadn’t really planned on going with anyone, or more accurately, it just hadn’t crossed her mind. She’d only really been thinking about what she was going to wear. Then Cadfael had asked her to go with him and she’d been so surprised she said yes without really thinking. Not that she didn’t want to go with him! She was excited, she’d just never been on a date. Then again, this wasn’t exactly a date either. Dances and dates were different. Or at least that's how she’d always seen it. Maybe she was the weird one. She honestly had no idea. Either way, here she was. Going to a dance. With a boy. And she was going to give this dance her all.
Amelia had seen to every single detail of her outfit. The dress itself was designed after one from the mid-1860s, so it required certain structures to wear it accurately and comfortably. She had a chemise, bloomers, a corset, a crinoline, and a petticoat. She would never understand why people couldn’t seem to wrap their minds around the fact that there was nothing wrong with corsets. In fact, she felt most comfortable when she was in one. It was the same feeling of using a weighted blanket. Plus, it helped distribute the weight of crinoline and petticoats.
She was so caught up in her mental spiel as to why corsets were not evil that she barely noticed her feet had carried her to the main floor. Amelia took a deep breath and ran a hand across her skirt, making sure it was lying perfectly. Without letting any more thoughts into her head, she walked outside and to the bench area where she had agreed to meet Cae. When she spotted him, she stepped forward and offered a small, “Hello.”

Cae was doing everything in his power to keep himself wide awake. He'd even tried coffee for the first time (it was super gross, bad idea). He was really excited to go to the dance with Amelia, and he didn't want to disappoint her by being, well, himself. He was a little envious of his twin, since Ceri was pretty much perpetually a beacon of energy, meanwhile he was pretty much always half-asleep. Sure, he knew it was a neurological disorder, but it really caused him issues. He paced around a bit, trying to keep himself from sitting or resting for even a second.
When he noticed Amelia heading his way, he stopped pacing and looked over at her. Holy cow, she was really pretty. He felt a little inadequate about his choice of outfit, but it was too late to do anything about that now! "Hey... h-hi, Amelia. You look really lovely," he said, softly stumbling over his words. His cheeks were a bit pink, but he was hoping that between all the lights and such, she might not notice. "U-um... did you want to go dance? I've been practicing..." Over winter, mum had taught them a few steps, and he was too embarrassed to say he'd practiced with his twin, but c'est la vie, right?

Edison had been paying attention at Daily Dragon. So far, it seemed every single member either had a date or plans to go with family. Eddie felt a little left out, but volunteered to handle the photography for the whole event. Bieito asked him several times if that was fine, even offering to take half the work. But, Eddie insisted. He didn't want anyone to ruin their night when he'd be by himself anyway.
The night of the dance, he worked on dressing up. wanting to at least fit in. He threw on his camera bag, grabbing his beloved camera. Walking outside, he figured he'd start out by the photo nooks, since the sky was at sunset and photos would be lovely. He was surprised when his little sister hurried to his side, her own camera in hand. "Hi Eddie! I figured you'd need a hand tonight!" She grinned over, but her smile faltered when he sighed. "I will be fine, thank you. If you would like to take photos, we can split the work. Otherwise, you can go with your friends."
Iana frowned up at her brother, before a thought crossed her mind. "Is it 'cause you're mad about not being invited? 'Cause some of the girls in my house were saying how sad it is." She sent over a smirk, though she batted her eyelashes for an air of innocence. "I'm not... mad. It's fine. It... is okay. I can take pictures, since that's important." He said, though his voice sounded terse. "See, I know that's a lie. I can tell." Iana giggled, grinning over at her brother, who just sighed.

Hesperia hadn't had to worry about a date for the dance, since practically as soon as it was announced, Kasamir had confirmed she'd be his date to the dance. Over the winter break, Vikram had taken them all dress shopping at Cloak & Coven and had paid for her to have a super expensive dress for the dance. Otherwise, she might have had to settle for something... well, less. Her grandmother had insisted on loaning her some jewelry, since it matched her theme for the outfit so well. Hesperia also opted to add a green and black choker she'd spotted online that fit her outfit so well. Altogether, she rocked the green, black, and gold outfit. Naturally she had to wear the friendship bracelet Csuri had given her and the necklace that Kas has gifted her when their relationship was young. Dressed to the nines and checking out her outfit in the mirror, she realized she looked like an early Hollywood starlet, minus the poofy boa shawl thing. With a toothy grin, she'd headed out to find a quiet place to meet her boyfriend.
After checking the Great Hall, she had instead chosen to go outside to the walking paths that Charlotte and Bee had set up. Not only was there not music playing out here, but there was also a lot less people hanging out here. She stopped to look at a display of flowers around a bench and decided this ought to be a good place to wait. Adjusting her dress, she sat down on the bench, taking in a deep breath of the warm evening air. This was actually quite an idyllic place to wait. She looked something like a Greek goddess sitting there amongst the flowers. Sitting there, the fifth year had a lot on her mind. At the end of the year, she'd be taking her O.W.L.s and that was a big concern for her. She'd been studying her butt off for those. Also on her mind was that next year, she'd be the Captain of Slytherin's Quidditch team. She had to pick a Vice Captain for the team. All her worries came flooding back to her while he waited, but she did her best to squash them down. Tonight was about the Flower Dance, not for worrying about exams or next year.

Kas smiled as he watched his little cousin/ sister twirl about, a vision in her long red ball gown. Natalya had asked to look like the titular character of the ‘Anna Karenina’ novel and movie, she even brought along drawings to help the cause when they visited the Cloak and Coven over winter break at Vikram’s invitation, and it was Linsey who worked her magic, figuratively and perhaps literally, to make it reality. After telling Talya how ‘princess dresses were something of a specialty of hers’, the fashion designer created a bit of fantasy for his little cousin, and made a dress fit for a young tzarina of the late Nineteenth Century with ruffles, frills and a sweetheart neckline.
If Natalya looked as though she belonged at the Tzar’s Winter Court, Kas looked as though he belonged at an ambassadorial reception, wearing a formal jacket, vest and trousers with a bit of militaristic flair belonging to an older time. He nearly considered adding his sword and scabbard to his ensemble, but decided it might be a bit too much, and somebody might trip over it. Kas had been amazed he was treated to this finery by Vikram, as his original plan was to see to Talya’s needs and to help Hes if he needed to.
The plan for tonight was for Kas to escourt Talya to the ball, as she was intending to meet up with some of her friends. Talya was also hoping to maybe score a dance with Bryn, though she wasn’t at all sure he would even be there. After getting Talya to the dance, Kas went looking for his Evening Star. With the intensity of a Seeker, he scanned the growing crowd in the Great Hall, before deciding to try his luck outside. There was music playing outside, and it was less crowded, and Kas was impressed by the display of flowers Bee and Charlotte had wrought.
It was here Kas found Hes, and seeing her seated among the flowers, causing his heart to jump in his chest, resembling Chloris of ancient mythology in her grotto. He smiled as said to her, “If I were to die this night, and you sitting here were the last vision of this world I could take with me, I could pass through the Veil content in the knowing that I’d seen true beauty.”

Her half-vampire ears picked up someone approaching where she'd sat and she recognized the approaching scent as belonging to her boyfriend. Hesperia shifted a little on the bench so that Kasamir could sit beside her, but he merely stopped to take in her visage. He said that she represented true beauty and he could die happy knowing he'd seen her. A blush rose to her cheeks and she smiled widely. Rising from her seat on the bench, she walked over to him and draped her arms around his shoulders. Then she said, "A ty, lyubimyy, – prekrasneyshiy muzhchina, chto ukrashayet velikuyu zemlyu Bozh'yu. Zhenshchiny umirayut, chtoby uvidet' tvoy vzglyad." Her Russian had been getting markedly better, matching his growing mastery of the Greek language. Drawing his head downward, she placed a kiss upon his lips, then she smiled again. "So what do you want to do, my heart? We could dance, or walk the paths, or perhaps find the snack tables. I'm happy with anything, as long as I have you with me."

Amelia noticed Cae pacing around and smiled softly, but also wrung her hands together at the same moment. Again with those mixed feelings. Yesterday she’d talked to Charlotte about her nerves, telling her, of all things, that she wasn’t ready to ‘spend her life with him’. Charlotte hadn’t been able to stop herself from laughing directly in her face. Which was honestly a completely valid response. It was a silly thing to say.
You agreed to go to a school dance with him. You didn’t agree to marry him. Charlotte had said.
As Cae noticed her, Amelia smiled and gave the slightest bow of her head in greeting. “Thank you,” she said, “you look very nice yourself, Cae.” She loved the colors he was wearing. She gave a nod as he continued. “I’d like that,” she replied. She glanced down at herself for a moment.“Hopefully you can get to me with my skirt,” she said with a small giggle at her wide crinolined skirt. Luckily, they tended to squish pretty easily.

As Amelia gave a little bow, Cae offered a grin, his braces twinkling a bit. He also did a bow, since clearly she seemed to be a fancy person. Of course, he'd never been to such a fancy event, so maybe this was how they were supposed to act! He felt a little better when she said he looked nice. "You look really nice too. I like your dress. It's very..." he had to think of a good phrasing without sounding mean. It really wouldn't do to offend. "Very old-timey. But in a good way. Like a Jane Austen novel." He'd seen the movies countless times thanks to his mum and sister.
But then, she agreed to try a dance! He chuckled politely when Amelia said he'd have to get close enough, despite her skirt. "I'm sure we can figure it out. There has to be a method, since people in those fancy hoop skirts and such were always able to dance, right?" He grinned, then offered a hand over to her so they could walk over to the dancing area together.
Ro wasn’t entirely sure what had happened. One minute, she and Eric had been talking, then he’d asked if she was single. The question had shocked her more than a little, but she had informed him that no, she did not have a boyfriend, and yes, she was single. They continued talking after that, then the next thing they knew, they were headed toward the gardens. Initially, they had left the Great Hall to check on the students outside, but then they had found themselves standing behind a sort of flower-covered hedge, their arms wrapped around each other…kissing. This was not like her at all; in fact, she’d never even kissed anyone, but it just felt strangely right. And now they were here, like a bunch of teenagers, hiding in a hedge to make out. This was a weird day.
Suddenly, Eric pulled away.. “There’s something I should tell you,” he said, sounding almost out of breath. He seemed to steel himself for a moment. “I’m a werewolf.”
Rowan actually laughed. “Yeah, I know.”
“What? How?”
Ro sighed ever so slightly. “Oh, please. Jackson substitutes your classes at least once a month and don’t think I haven’t noticed those scars on your arms,” she said, actually taking the opportunity to run her hand down his arms.
“It doesn’t bother you?” He asked
“Not even a little. I’m literally the potions' professor. I can keep you stocked on wolfsbane, all you need. It’s not like it’s your fault you got attacked by a werewolf.”
Eric smiled. “I’m gonna kiss you again before we have to go back inside. If that’s alright, of course.”
“It really really is,” Rowanna replied, once again wrapping her hands around the man with a large smile.
Clara had made her way outside to the garden, a little cake pop from the snack table in her hands. She was honestly kind of enjoying the fact that she was spending the evening alone. It let her just people-watch without worrying about things like keeping a conversation going. It was also gorgeous out here with all the flowers and fairy lights. Clara intended to find one of those plush benches Charlotte had talked about when she heard a strange sound that made her wrinkle her nose.
What was that? Clara peeked around the corner of one of the bushes, and her eyes immediately grew to the size of saucers. She stared at the figures of Professor Kim and Professor Chahal, their arms wrapped around each other…kissing. Passionately. More passionately than the eleven-year-old had pretty much ever seen. She’d thought her parents were bad. Then they pulled away from each other, and Professor Kim began to speak. She knew she shouldn’t eavesdrop; it was a serious invasion of privacy, but she just couldn’t pull herself away. She’d feel bad about it after, at least. But then, the bomb was dropped. Professor Kim was a werewolf. Of course, associating with werewolves was nothing new for Clara. After all, her mother was head of the Werewolf Support Services, but it was still dramatic to hear. Especially on top of the kissing. So Clara did what anyone her age would do in this situation. She slowly slid her way backwards and away from the…couple, before continuing on her way as though nothing had happened. She was totally going to tell her sisters, though. The kissing was crazy.
