The Karim family is a well-known name both in and outside of Dawla. They are the owners of a franchise of bathhouses with a branch of the family running a bathhouse in each major city in the three nations. Cairo's branch runs the main business in the Dawlan capital city. He is the firstborn of the proprietors with a younger sister after him. Like all Karim children, Cairo was raised to work the bathhouse. He was trained how to handle the customers, care for the finances, and learned the ins and outs of the family business. By fifteen, he was an active and much appreciated assistant to his parents' bathhouse. At twenty, Cairo began to take an interest in running his own bathhouse. And, where did he want to set up shop? Sanctuary, of course!
Why? Because simple pleasures go a long way and Cairo enjoys providing the opportunity to those who need it. And, no one needs it more than the residents of Sanctuary who fight day in and day out against the strengthening oppressive force of Chóra. As an arcana who was fortunate enough to be born into freedom, it is only natural he wishes to provide what support he can to those who weren't. Even if that support comes in the form of a relaxing soak in a hot bath. It seems to be appreciated, however, as the bathhouse he runs in Sanctuary has become quite the popular place in the four years he's been there.
