Sesshōmaru has undergone significant changes since the journey to take down Naraku. While he maintains a merciless persona in battle and is still indifferent on the surface, he is considerably kinder and even more social than he used to be. He's come into his compassionate and protective natures, no longer blindly ignoring when others are in need of help; he won't always go out of his way to assist, but if there's someone suffering in front of him, he's prone to lending a hand. Sesshōmaru's still a proud daiyōkai, however, that takes pride in his power and position, but it ultimately means nothing in comparison to his family. Emotionally, he's still underdeveloped and that likely isn't going to change anytime soon, but Sesshōmaru has learned to appreciate the small things he never did before.

♡ Sesshōmaru and the Tale of Naraku
♡ Four years after Kagome returned to the feudal era, when Rin was fifteen, she and Sesshōmaru began travelling together again as companions. In that time, Rin learned how to use a tantō for defensive purposes.
♡ At seventeen, his and Rin's relationship developed into a romantic one. Sesshōmaru had already figured out he couldn't imagine a life without Rin in it long ago during his training with Tenseiga. Those feelings for her changed over time, but it wasn't until Rin confessed that she wouldn't accept any man other than him to be by her side that he was able to realize exactly how his love for her evolved.
♡ Nine months later, when Rin was eighteen, she gave birth to their twin daughters, Towa and Setsuna. On the night of the twins' birth, Zero appeared and left Sesshōmaru with a threat directed at his family. That night, after speaking with Inuyasha, he left his wife and daughters in his half-brother's care and returned to the ruins of Izayoi's manor. Once there, he combined his energy with the lingering remnants of his father's power to construct a new manor. It took more than a month to fully construct. Moroha had already been born by the time he was able to relocate their family.
♡ Towa, Setsuna, and Moroha are now four years old. They were raised together in the manor and are largely oblivious to the conflict between their parents and Zero. They're smart, though, and are slowly starting to catch on. Thankfully, he currently has little to worry about; there's nothing Zero can do at the this time while the girls and their mothers live safely within the manor.

♕ WEAPON : Katana; Bakusaiga
▌Decomposition : Bakusaiga's primary ability allows it to decompose any organic material that its blade cuts. Once cut, the target becomes "infected" with spontaneous destruction that disintegrates the main body and nullifies any regenerative properties that the target may have. In addition, the remaining destruction will continue to spread to any organic matter that comes into physical contact with the original target, and is similar to a virus. Sesshōmaru seems to have a limited control of who it infects as Kohaku and others were unaffected when coming into contact with Naraku's body.
▌Yōki Wave : In addition to its decomposition ability, the Bakusaiga can also fire off explosive blasts of green-colored yōki that are capable of destroying multitudinous weaker demons with ease. Given that this blast was shown destroying the thousands of demons that were summoned by Byakuya of the Dreams in a single swing, it is implied that it is easily more than ten times stronger than the Tessaiga's Kaze no Kizu.
♕ WEAPON : Katana; Tenseiga
▌Resurrection : The Tenseiga can restore the life of the recently deceased by destroying the pall-bearers who take the souls of the dead. However, it requires a relatively-intact body to work and only works once as not to grant eternal life. If done to a dismembered body part, it will restore the body part to how it was when alive, but it will die again shortly afterwards. Although the Tenseiga cannot harm what belongs to the Living World, its healing powers allows it to slay the undead and spirits.
▌Healing : When used on a living being, Tenseiga can heal their wounds. It's capable of healing even the most life-threatening of injuries, including dismemberment.
▌Purification : Tenseiga is able to purify the sins of the dead. This technique also works against Heartless and Nobodies, though it's uncertain if they're able to reform or if they're forced to pass on.
▌Protective Barrier : The sheath of Tenseiga is capable of emitting a strong protective barrier. For this reason, Sesshōmaru often leaves the sword with his allies to protect them when they're at risk.
▌Sentience : Tenseiga is capable of making conscious decisions on its own. It will tell Sesshōmaru when it wishes to or should be drawn, and protect him from attacks such as when it teleported Sesshōmaru to save him from the Kaze no Kizu.
♕ SKILLS ❞
▌Superhuman Strength, Speed, Durability, & Olfactory Senses : As a powerful demon, he is exceptionally gifted in physical attributes. His sense of smell is so strong he can smell blood from a fair distance and can even distinguish whose blood it is.
▌Accelerated Healing : Sesshōmaru's healing factor is incredible. He's able to recover from extremely fatal wounds caused by the Kaze no Kizu within days.
▌Toxin Resistance : Being a poison user himself, Sesshōmaru has an incredible resistance to toxins. He was able to go completely unaffected by powerful poisons such as Naraku's miasma. It takes a significantly high concentration of poison or venom, such as Magatsuhi's miasma, to injure or hinder him in any capacity.
▌Dokkasō : Sesshōmaru's poison mist. He's able to spray it at his enemies as well as coat his hands to add power to his punches. It's extremely acidic in nature.
▌Mokomoko-sama : The mass of fur left over from his true form that is most often seen on his shoulder. The fur seems to be a living part of Sesshōmaru as it's possible to immobilize him by causing enough damage to it, but the fur is also detachable. He is known to use it as a pillow when injured and recovering. It's incredibly soft, but very few have been permitted to touch it.
▌Yōki Whip : He is able to create a whip from demonic energy that can cut through most things with ease. However, it can also be completely harmless as he once used it to save Kohaku from being sucked into the Underworld.
▌Longevity : As a daiyōkai, Sesshōmaru is blessed with an incredibly long lifespan. Inu daiyōkai can live well passed four thousand years.
▌Flight : He's able to fly in all his forms and his flight takes different forms depending on how fast he's going.
▌Transformation : Like all daiyōkai that take on a human appearance, Sesshōmaru is able to transform at will into his true body. He personally doesn't like resorting to this form despite the boost in physical strength because he's slower and less mobile.
▌Canine Communication : One of the lesser used abilities of his. Sesshōmaru is able to communicate with dogs and wolves. He doesn't use this skill often in a conversational way, but he isn't above using it to eavesdrop and learn things that might be valuable.
▌Healing Saliva : Another lesser known ability of his that very few know of. Not even Jaken knew of it for some time. While unable to heal severe wounds, Sesshōmaru's saliva can heal small injuries like cuts and bruises almost instantly. He tends to only use it on himself, but he's not ashamed of healing certain people such as Rin, Towa, and Setsuna.
▌Master Swordsman : Due to having practiced swordsmanship since he was young, Sesshōmaru is an extremely capable swordsman.
▌Experienced Combatant : Though the sword is his preferred method of battle, Sesshōmaru is versed in hand-to-hand combat as well as utilizing his whip. This makes him a versatile enemy to be wary of as there's nothing that can be done to disarm him. Even losing a literal arm did nothing to make him less dangerous.
▌Expert Tactician : Though most of his battles are done without planning, Sesshōmaru has proven to be capable as he's able to think of strategies in a only a few moments even during the heat of battle.

▌pride lands : Sesshōmaru becomes a white wolf that's large enough to match the weight and length of a lion. It resembles his true form as it has a large mane of fur, but he has no marks on his face in this world.
▌atlantica : A merman with a glistening silver tail that has fur lining the spine. Ornate, delicate-looking chains with blossom-shaped links decorate his waist and replace his sash in holding his swords in place.

▌space paranoids : Instead of his usual kimono and armor, Sesshōmaru wears a skintight suit similar to that of the demon slayer uniform. It's white with glowing red blossom patterns in the same place as his kimono and his hair is tied up into a tail similar to how his father's was.

▌Sesshōmaru's clothing and armor are physical manifestations of his demonic energy. As such, when damaged, they repair themselves over time. This also means he's incapable of wearing actual clothes, though he can change the look of his clothes and armor at will.
▌It isn't uncommon for Rin, Towa, and Setsuna to fall asleep on his fur, sometimes with Moroha. More often than not, if he needs to leave for some reason, he will detach his fur to avoid disturbing them.
▌He does enjoy music, though it can be hard to tell as his expression doesn't really change. Rin is able to play the shinobue flute and biwa as well as sing. Towa and Setsuna have begun to learn the flute and biwa respectively as they caught on that their father likes to listen.
▌Despite what some would believe, Sesshōmaru is a good father. He isn't doting; despite being within his means and rights to do so, he does not spoil them with random gifts and has no trouble telling them no. However, he is attentive and affectionate in subtle but glaringly obvious ways. Ask him about his daughters' most obscure interests and he can tell you without even thinking about it, and he finds an odd sense of peace having physical contact with them. He's not a cuddler himself, but he is happy to let them cuddle him.
▌He's also a pretty decent uncle, though he undoubtedly prefers it when Kagome is with Inuyasha and Moroha due to her ability to reel in his half-brother and their unruly brat. He gives Moroha the same treatment he gives his daughters, though he's less likely to be physically affectionate with her simply due to her being much more fond of her own father.
▌He and Rin were never formally married, but ceremony doesn't mean much to either of them. They were happy to simply exist together.
▌Contrary to popular belief, Sesshōmaru does have a diet. While he's not above hunting animals or devouring weaker yōkai in a pinch, he prefers a diet of berries and clear water. He particularly enjoys poisonous berries. As a high-level demon, however, he doesn't need to sustain himself with food often. Still, he's eaten more within the last year than he has in nearly a thousand years of life due to Towa and Setsuna insisting he eat with them during mealtimes.
▌It's impossible for most to tell and he'd never admit to it, but Sesshōmaru has grown somewhat fond of Inuyasha over the years. He's considerably kinder to the hanyō, which has really only been noticed by Inuyasha himself and Kagome. Regardless, he can still be stern and cold towards him. It's because he has high expectations for Inuyasha that he's harsh with his words to him. This does carry over to his own daughters; he isn't harsh with them unless he needs to be, but he does have expectations for them. That will be a bridge to cross when they're old enough, though.
▌For the sake of this AU, Towa and Setsuna's appearances are slightly altered. The streaks in their hair are the color of their father's markings with Towa's being the color of his moon and Setsuna's being the color of his stripes. Both of their eyes are amber in color. Other than that, they both appear flawlessly human save for nails that are consistently sharper than a normal child's. Like Inuyasha, they turn completely human during the new moon and lose their demonic traits; Towa's hair turns black, the twins lose their streaks, and their eyes turn brown. However, because Towa inherited the majority of her father's demonic power, she becomes lethargic while Setsuna is completely unaffected by the loss of her demonic energy. For this reason, Setsuna is determined to become a warrior so she can protect her sister.
▌Another thing to note about this AU is the castle. Given the canon has shown us that a demon's lair will sometimes disappear after they die, it's safe to assume this means these constructs are made from their demonic energy. This is likely something only high-level demons can achieve, such as Sesshōmaru's mother and Kirinmaru. It took Sesshōmaru over a month to make the manor because he himself hasn't reached the level of power needed to do so just yet; hence why he did so where his father died so he could utilize what was left of Tōga's power.

Their are only three things in the world Sesshōmaru is willing to abandon everything he has for and Rin is at the top of that list. He learned long ago that nothing, not even all the power in the world, was worth losing her when he nearly lost her while mastering the Meidō Zangetsuha. After realizing he was in love with her, that devotion only grew and he was ready to reject his rightful place as the Inu no Taishō to be with her. If not for Rin's efforts, he would have. Even though she's human and nowhere near as capable as he is, Sesshōmaru respects and values her as his equal; as far as he's concerned, her voice and opinion hold just as much importance as his own. Their relationship goes beyond words, however. In fact, Rin very rarely ever speaks up against him. Not because she's subservient but because they have never needed verbal communication to understand the other. Sesshōmaru and Rin's trust and faith in one another runs deeper than they have words for, so if she ever does feel the need to speak up, he will absolutely listen to her.

The eldest of his twin daughters, Towa is the second on the list of the things he would be willing to abandon all he has for. She is undoubtedly the "daddy's girl" as Kagome calls it as Towa is typically always in one of two places; playing with her sister and cousin somewhere within the manor grounds or by her father's side. While he doesn't play favorites and loves both his daughters the same, Towa is very much her mother's child as she is a highly empathetic caretaker, always looking out for Setsuna and Moroha and even him at times, and he is naturally drawn to it. She has shown an unusually strong interest in Tenseiga to the point that if he happens to notice it's missing, he knows it's with her. Sesshōmaru has already begun plans to start training her within the next few years.

The third on his list of most important things is Setsuna, the youngest of his twin daughters. If love can be inherited, then Setsuna has absolutely inherited her father's love for her mother. She adores both her parents, of course, but of the two, she is much closer to Rin. Unless she's following her sister, Rin is always Setsuna's first choice whether it's to talk, play, or nap and she responds much quicker when Rin calls or tells her something. Still, Setsuna has shown a consistent interest in earning praise and approval from him. He and Rin suspect this may be caused by insecurity born from not being as strong and capable as Towa, but they do their best to dispel these insecurities. It may stem from his absences during the new moon when she and Towa turn human, however, but there's little that can be done about that; with Inuyasha also debilitated, Sesshōmaru is left with the task of protecting the manor on his own from the masses of demons that are drawn in by the three weakened hanyō.

The relationship between Sesshōmaru and Inuyasha isn't nearly as great as it could be, but they have gotten better. While you won't find them casually conversing or existing in the same room unless necessary, they've reached a point where they no longer feel the instinctual need to avoid one another. It certainly helps that when they are together, it's because their daughters are with them. Regardless of the lingering awkwardness that isn't likely to go away anytime soon, he and Inuyasha do work well together. It's the only natural outcome of being united in the shared goal of protecting their families from the same enemy, especially when it involves inhabiting the land their father died on.
