The Hatching had left her feeling raw and betrayed, but at the end of the day, she knew that it was no one's fault but her own. She'd known far better, and yet she'd fallen for it anyway. It was the sort of mistake she hadn't made in a long, long time, and she was beyond frustrated with herself. That made it easier, at least - she could bury the hurt deep and ignore it, while she focused on what, to her, was the real problem. She'd let her feelings, her hope, her loneliness get the better of her, and that was unacceptable. In the time between Hatching and Feast, she'd carefully put herself back in proper order; no one need ever know she'd let herself slip.

To that end, she was indeed at the Feast, no matter how little she wanted to be there. All the better to look like nothing was wrong, and never had been. Her outfit was not one of the showstoppers so often on display at some functions, but she was only a Candidate, after all, and hers was fetching enough. It fit her well, both in the fit itself and the feel of it. Even if she'd had the means, ostentatious dresses simply didn't appeal to her.

The night had been eventful, as Hatchings often were, but Razanel had found himself yet again without a partner. He had been hopeful when a strapping blue had sought him out and wrapped around his legs as if they were old friends--but unfortunately, what Razanel had to offer wasn't enough for Impression. As amicably as they had gotten on, the blue had been destined for someone else. He would be lying if he wasn't disappointed, but he was glad the fine beast had found what and who he needed, even if it wasn't him. Surely, whoever picked him out, whenever that day came, would be worth all the disappointment.

Thankfully though, there was no better way to lift one's spirits than a party. Not everyone felt so good about attending, but free food and drink, and a lot of pretty girls and boys, was enough to keep Razanel happy. He wasn't prone to brooding, at any rate, and would find comfort in the arms of another before the night was through.

Dressed in black slacks, with a blue and green tunic embroidered in gold and black, with his hair combed back, Razanel's Gather Best wasn't perhaps as striking as others might wear--but it was bold, colorful, and fit him well. Cruising thorugh the crowd with his usual confidence, the dark haired man did spot a familiar blonde face. With a change of course, the Candidate wasn't going to be shy. "Nisadee," he greeted, giving a low whistle of approval and a little bit of a look over. She was exceptionally fetching in her dress. "Fancy seeing you again soon," he mused, "You here with anyone?" Maybe if she wasn't so sick of his company after standing together on the Sands, they could get a bite to eat, or at least a drink. He wouldn't crowd, after all--but he could hope.

Nisadee would rather be swallowed up by a hold in the ground than admit that she had been hurt, that she had struggled - was still struggling - which was about as readily as she would have admitted that she was glad to see Razanel. As if she was attached. As if she needed the company, rather than just a distraction, because she'd been alone with her own thoughts more than long enough, and Razanel was...comfortable. More than he should have been. She knew more than well enough that she should be running, not leaning into it, but here she was anyway, one corner of her mouth quirking into a smile as she huffed out an amused breath at his little whistle.

"Whoever would have thought?" Her tone was purely lighthearted, a life of practice making the act of everything-is-okay all too easy. At his question, she shook her head and laughed. "With anyone? Me? No."

That amusement was actually genuine, nothing false or even self-deprecating about it. As if she'd have a date. Really. That would be a warm day Between, she was sure.

Nisadee's goal of hiding her pain worked well--for unlike the dragons and flits in the Weyr, Razanel was absolutely no mind-reader. He couldn't possibly know the feelings she held under lock and key, so all he could do was carry on as amicably as he was able to muster. While he had been disappointed by the outcome --he had really hoped Nisadee or he would have met their match!--there was no way to force Impression. While he had been quite charmed by the beautiful blue dragonet, he had still come up short. There was no way to know why, but that didn't mean it wouldn't sting for a bit. Time would lessen the disappointment, especially if he had plentiful distractions.

What it had done, though, was further cement his desire for a blue fighting dragon. Perhaps it was his father, as a blue rider, rubbing off on him, but there was something about the rascals that Razanel genuinely liked--and their colors were some of the finest in the Weyr, in his opinion. Maybe next time there would be a bundle of blue baby to fuss over next time. It was all a Candidate could hope for, after all.

"It's truly been too long! I hardly recognized you!" He teased with a cheeky grin, offering her a very low, and somewhat dramatic, bow in greeting. As if they hadn't been standing nearby for much of the hatching! Still, he was actually glad to see her, even if his intentions weren't entirely innocent. They had always had a nice time together in the past... maybe they could have a nice time at the Feast, or wherever the day would bring them.

"Well, I figured I'd at least see who might be competing for some of your attention," he stated with a grin. "You could get any boy or girl you wanted, easy!" And didn't she know it? Razanel certainly had noticed. While they were mostly friends-with-benefits, he figured she'd have an entire lineup of individuals who might want to spend time with her. Feasts were prime opportunities for mingling, after all.
