Another clutch was on the Sands, and High Reaches was a buzz with gossip. The eggs were hardening fast, and more and more white-robed Candidates seemed to be brought in daily. Though D'cir was interested in the upcoming Hatching, just as any rider might well be, he wasn't known to be a gossip and he was even less known for being excitable. Instead, he moved through the Weyr with his usual scowl and seriousness, and anyone who dared tried to excite more of a response would be met with a full-blown frown.

Those at High Reaches Weyr were likely accustomed to the dark haired man's grave and aloof nature. He had been Searched as a serious young man, had Impressed an equally aloof dragon, and remained a stoic figure ever since. While he was lucky enough to have found and taken on a weyrmate, and even had a handful of children, he tended to keep his feelings close to the vest. A very expensive, very high-quality, very fine, vest, but close to it, nonethelss.

The clouds were heavy, hanging over the Weyr, with the promise of cooler weather to come. Very soon snow would grace the peaks, but for now, the late summer remained relatively dry and grey. Very grey. D'cir looked forward to the snow and the cold after all the months of heat. Mictecath's brood would at least get a few months of warmer weather before the first snows fell--though some of the tallest peaks in High Reaches were already layered with a blanket of snow.

Sitting within his shared weyr, working on a replacement set of riding straps, he could feel Dionyth stir from where he'd settled himself on the ledge. Indrath has returned. The blue shared with His, a mix of smugness and pleasure coloring his words.

D'cir said nothing... but did begin to wrap up the task at hand. He wouldn't finish the straps today, but a break would do him some good. Assuming J'ser was in the mood for a bit of a distraction.

You missed a spot, Indrath said critically, examining his rider with a certain brand of judgement that J'ser had long known to be his alone. The bronze was particular and precise, and certainly had opinions about his grooming. Meticulous to a fault, Indrath demanded nothing less than perfection from his oiling. Of course... they seemed to have slightly different perspectives on what that might be.

Quirking a brow at his dragon, J'ser shook his head. "I did not. That spot did not need oiling today. Do you insist on being oiled every single day?" Of course he would, thought the bronzerider, who certainly had his hands full leading his Wing.

The huff that followed such unacceptable words was cut off shortly, however, as a new distraction appeared. Upon sighting his mate, Indrath crooned a greeting. They were not far from their weyr, and both dragon and rider were more than ready to spend some quality time with the lovely pair awaiting them. It was a short flight to the ledge, and J'ser hopped off his dragon's back expertly.

Within moments, Indrath was out of his riding straps and ready to pay Dionyth some good attention. Hello, moons of my life, the bronze purred, reaching out to nuzzle the dark, striking blue who lay curled so properly upon the weyr ledge. While his dragon might be a bit biting toward him, there was nothing but gentlemanly behavior displayed toward his beautiful Dionyth. The discrepancy was not at all lost on his rider, who put aside his oiling kit so that he could properly put himself in order.

"Hello, beloved," he said, cleaning off his hands so that they wouldn't get D'cir all over with oil. "Have you been keeping yourself busy?" he inquired, well aware of what the answer would be. D'cir was nothing if not industrious. One could hardly pry him away from his work. Little resisting the impulse, he pulled the bluerider in for a kiss.

Dionyth turned his green-blue gaze onto the large dragon that reached out for him. The nuzzle was accepted graciously, hints of purple coloring his eyes as the blue dragon gave a content thrum of pleasure. He did not, of course, stir from his poised position--indeed, if Indrath wished to snuggle, the bronze would need to make himself comfortable around him--something Dionyth was secretly eager for him to do. Until then, though, he admired the gleaming hide of his mate, and sent a wave of fondness and affection towards the other.

Welcome back, handsome. How exquisite you look so freshly oiled--surely, you turned many a head on your flight back up to our ledge. There was a smugness about the blue, for while he could be prone to jealousy, he did rather want the world to recognize how great Indrath happened to be.

D'cir, for his part, was more than amenable to being pulled over to the other for a kiss. He had tucked away his leather work as J'ser had cleaned up, and was more than happy to devote some time to be with his weyrmate. Wrapping his arms loosely about the others neck, he nosed at his cheek, offering a few smaller kisses, before answering. "Busy enough, I suppose.
I've been at these straps all afternoon," he explained, a small frown crossing his lips. "I always forget how frustratingly difficult it is to break in the leather enough to work with it--I suspect it'll be another sevenday before they're finished." While he was an old hand at it, after all his Turns as a rider, it didn't make the task any more enjoyable than when he'd learned to do it as a weyrling.

"And what of you? Is Indrath feeling more himself now that he's tended to?"

"You know he feels the most himself when imperiously demanding something of me," J'ser said with a little grin that was as much full of fondness as it was resignation. He was more than used to his dragon's moods; the bronze was incorrigible at times. D'cir, on the other hand, was the most fantastic creature to ever -

Careful, Indrath snapped, in a private line that was purely for his rider -

- Well, one of the most fantastic creatures to ever grace Pern. Certainly the most beautiful. Distracted from his thoughts, he pulled D'cir in for another, lingering kiss, and then set him gently down. "Mmm... so you're in need of salve, I take it?" The man had trained with the healers, after all, and he was more than capable of tending to something as minor as blistered hands. As a Lord Holder, he had needed to know a few basic remedies, in the case of crisis... and he'd had more than a passing interest in the craft.

Practically purring at Dionyth's words, Indrath did exactly as his love desired, curling his tremendous self around his beloved's dark and petite form. Undoubtedly so, but not so many as you surely did on your way up here, he told him, reaching down to nuzzle him from his place coiled about him. It was the most excellent luxury to be so entwined with his lovely blue, and he took a moment to admire the beauty before him.
