High Reaches was bustling with excitement as everyone awaited the newest clutch of eggs to be ready for the Touching, golden Mictecath dutifully and lovingly attending to them day in and day out. Jaleeri was just as excited and curious as everyone else but she knew that time would only pass more slowly if she thought about nothing but the impending baby dragons. Dinner was fast approaching and the young woman knew she needed to get this homework wrapped up if she wanted to get first dibs on whatever was being offered this evening, but studies had never been her strong suit. She was used to remedial lessons, re-doing tests and evaluations, and the current assignment she was working on was one she'd done once before and just barely missed the passing mark. She didn't let it get her down, though, and was thankful the Candidatemaster appreciated her determination to get it right, even if it took her a time or two.
Letting out a heavy sigh, Jaleeri sat back in her seat and set her quill down. She lifted her hands and went through a series of motions - first cracking her knuckles, then reaching up to push her chin back and forth to pop her neck, then reaching around behind her to grab the back of the chair, twisting to crack her spine in both directions.
"Shards and shells, these chairs are uncomfortable," she muttered to no one in particular. They needed a cushion or something soft over the backrest, in her opinion. Maybe she could find some furs and set them over the back next time...that might help her stay focused.

Hunthyex retained his usual composure even as the Weyr buzzed with excitement over Mictecath's maiden clutch, but only a fool wouldn't be looking forward to the prospect of Impressing a dragon. He very much enjoyed the lessons that they were taught, fascinated by an entire world he'd known next to nothing about outside of songs and stories. In some ways, it was hard to fathom what it would really feel like to have a dragon. Hunthyex knew that words alone failed to capture what Impression must feel like. Would this be the time when he got to experience such a thing for himself?
A soft series of pops finally pulled his attention, and he surveyed Jaleeri with a flat, assessing look. He knew her vaguely, as he did with almost all fellow Candidates now. A steady worker, if a little slow for his tastes.
"Your posture could play a part in that," He noted, though he could admit he'd sat in more comfortable chairs throughout his life.
