[PRP] Brothers (D'hka + Lufianth/Kahbrohm)

The worst of Kahbrohm's seething jealousy had settled. It was no longer tensely wound, ready to spring and snap over some small self-perceieved slight. He'd set himself back to the grindstone instead - not that hard work and being shiningly exemplary meant much sometimes. But he was too proud to not do his best and earn his ego, as bruised as it was.

Maybe it had been the news of a baby brother or sister on the way - only a few months now. It was different than having a brother thrust upon him, but was it truly? The thought had gnawed at him, and he knew he couldn't avoid D'hka forever.

A larger part of him hadn't wanted to, as conflicted and opposing as the feelings were. But was his pride so fragile to not handle facing reality? Ego battled that possibility and it was ego that spurred him along.

He wasn't even going to try and find a low time where nobody had to see him - only one where the Weyrlings weren't horrendously busy.

He waited until the Weyrlings were released for dinner that day to make his pointed approach towards the greenrider, punching down the grumbling feelings. Especially with - "D'hka- you have a few minutes?"

Sometimes, D'hka thought it was a wonder that his head didn't burst from all the information he was cramming into it. He excelled when it came to studying and anything to do with dragons was something that held him raptly at attention, so it wasn't as though he disliked his lessons. It was simply that there was so much to know, all of it important, and he sometimes felt like he was floundering desperately just trying to keep up. They were learning about some of the Northern Continent, and the names and geography were threatening to make his head spin. Luckily, he knew he'd taken good notes, so... it was just going to come down to a matter of studying until he felt more comfortable.

Tired, lost in his thoughts, D'hka intended to grab a quick bite and immediately go to Lufianth. The green was doing much, much better when it came to having to be separate from Hers (only due to the fact that she was far too big to be with him now), but neither of them enjoyed being apart for very long. For that reason, it took him longer than it should have to realize that Kah was walking towards him. On purpose. And talking to him. He was really talking to him.

The dragon in question had immediately lifted her head at her rider's surprise, wide-eyed and curious. She knew D'hka and Kahbrohm's relationship was complicated, and her own attempts to connect with the young man had been unsuccessful... but her fond feelings were unchanged. Take your time! She said with excitement, hopeful that this exchange would be a positive one. I don't mind waiting! That wasn't exactly true, but she would never begrudge her rider some personal time with his brother!

"What?" He sputtered, his mind racing to frantically catch up. "Oh--yeah, of course!" Had something happened? No, surely he would have known. Part of him wanted to be anxious... but that part of him had been so completely changed by Lufianth that he just didn't have time to worry about what everyone thought of him. He could only do his best.

Kahbrohm's default tight-lipped expression twisted into the faintest facsimile of a frown as D'hka and his mile-a-minute brain stumbled over itself to get to the starting line. But, he wasn't here to lord his obvious superiority in all but having a dragon of his own over his brother - there was still time for that to be corrected - so he held in any direct comment about that to himself.

For once.

"You think you're gonna have time to be a big brother between everything else you have going?" it was a clear segue into the topic at hand dressed up in Kahbrohm's usual blunt no-punches-held sort of way of talking - Was D'hka having any thoughts about their dad having another kid?
