In a rather predictable fashion, Tristram had been comparing notes with a High Reaches healer. It was unfortunate that spinal injuries were not his specialty, he reflected, as the other healer at last set off toward the infirmary. He would have liked to help... but there was very little he could do. Every healer was expected to be familiar with different types of injuries and their remedies, but when it came to something like this, he was certainly out of his depth. Resolving to fix that later, he turned back to the Feast, finding that he was... waiting for someone.
Someone who had been so lucky as to Impress to a beautiful green. Scanning the crowd for her, he was dismayed when he couldn't find any trace of her. But then, as luck would have it, the crowd parted and a familiar shape could be seen. His veritable fair of flits swept around him, and the little queen darted off to greet Miela.
Before the crowd closed ranks again, Tristram stepped forward, making his way through it. This was the child he'd come to watch, and he wanted the chance to truly congratulate her. "Miela," he said, when he reached her side. "Congratulations!" And he was so, so happy for her. "You did it." There had never been any doubt in his mind that she'd find her life partner. It had just been a question of when.

It was the gold fire lizard she'd met once or twice when she'd dropped off letters that grabbed Miela's attention and held it for a moment. Invidiath, far less fussed about fire lizards outside of her bonded's own, cast a wide net around and through a part in the crowd finally caught sight of the mountain of human they'd been looking for.
Well wasn't he quite fancy? Yes she was rather thrilled that Her's knew such a fine array of people for the little green to sink her claws into and keep.
Still a bit caught by the gold, Miela smiled and turned at her name to look up and up and up and up still further. Her smile broadened the further up she looked and while she wanted nothing more than to hug him she instead quickly stuffed her letter in a pocket sewn in her dress and bowed before him, her nerves hid by a blush. The last time she'd seen him she'd bled all over his clothing after all, which made it all the more incredible that he'd not only forgiven her, as his clothing was wonderful, but that he'd written her.
When she straightened she was still smiling like it was all she knew how to do. "Invidiath did it really." Yes, yes I did. It wasn't hard to figure out at all. The little green sat primly down between the two of them, her eyes whirling purples and greens. It's a shame this one lives so far away, we should keep him.
Shameless.
In an effort to cover that up slightly, Miela laid a hand on Invidiath's head and used the other to point to the bright green glass eye she'd chosen to wear for the Feast, one that matched her dragon so well. "I can't ever thank you enough for these, but I can keep them as perfect as possible with everything you taught me. Thanks to you I could match Invidiath tonight!" Miela beamed proudly about it and would maybe have bowed again if her green hadn't chosen that moment to stand up and wind around both she and Tristram like some ludicrous possessive feline.

By this time, Tristram had all but adopted Miela as something of a niece. She was, perhaps, the closest thing he had to a child, though he would make no claims to such a thing - she had two perfectly loving parents. Yet it was surprising how his heart filled with pride at the sight of her beaming, dragonet so close at hand. What a fine pair they made! Wrapped in his luxurious, fur lined cape, Tristram did not feel chilled at all. Especially with the firelizards burrowed into pockets of his clothes, and with Invidiath twining around him.
He smiled down at Miela. "Still, you are to be congratulated. What a beauty," he remarked, admiring the little green. She had certainly been quite the star on the Hatching Sands. "Miela, you don't need to thank me for them. It's the least I could do." For all that he had had a part in helping the girl back to some semblance of normal, it was she who had had the courage to return to continue to Stand, and she who had Impressed her lovely green. "But you are welcome, of course."
