[PRP] Another Day, Another Ache (Talis/La'hisen)

Though there had been worse by far, today's Fall had felt especially long. Going up in the second wave never helped, but at least this time they hadn't had to do any fighting in the dark. And, more importantly, neither she nor Holleth had taken any significant damage. Her little blue had the usual, just a light score here and there; as swift as he was, it was hard to avoid every last little sliver of Thread. They were both rather ashy, thanks to the wind, and Talis would need a new jacket, but they'd gotten Between quickly enough that only the wherhide had suffered.

The sun was setting as Holleth deposited His on their ledge, then away he went for a soak in the lake, cold as it was. He was due for a proper bath tomorrow, but in the meantime, a good soak would rid him of his light coating of ash. Talis wasted no time in peeling off her ruined jacket right out on the ledge - the snow might have set in awhile back, but she was hot after the day's work, and ready to be out of her gear. The cold air was a relief, and she basked in it for a long moment before she headed inside, tossing her jacket in the general direction of the door as she went...only to grimace and roll her shoulder, complaining, "Some people can't throw worth s**t."

Othelloth, drowsing quietly, opened an eye long enough to rumble a greeting to both Holleth and Talis. He'd worked hard during today's lessons, and loathe as he was to be seen as anything but an active go-getter, La'hisen had encouraged him to rest. La'hisen was reviewing Between coordinates, attempting to pound them into his brain until it was almost secondhand nature to recall them. He was glad for the distraction, glancing up only to snort at Talis' words.

"Some people can't think worth s**t, either." He got to his feet, grimacing a little as he stretched his back before using a foot to push the tossed jacket about. Definitely some ugly scoring there. If it had chewed through the wherhide, she'd have been at the infirmary first. Content with the knowledge that she was mostly unscathed, La'hisen stepped a little closer. If he were more of a touchy-feely sort of person, he might have offered to rub her shoulders or... something.

"You need a bath." Was the extremely sweet, sensitive thing he said instead, stepping past her to go ahead and get it started. After all, he was relieved that she was fine... not that he'd ever admit to being worried in the first place.

Holleth had offered a soft, polite return of Othelloth's acknowledgement before departing to soak away the ash, while Talis had waved while in the midst of removing her jacket. They were both as pleased as ever that not only had La'hisen Impressed, it had been to a blue, and a fine one at that. And he was an easy ledgemate, which kept things from getting...complicated.

"Isn't that the truth," Talis agreed with a snort of her own. It was by no means a question: it was a definite fact. Thinking, much like throwing, was very much not everyone's strong suit.

At the assertion that she needed a bath, she made a face. And a noise. "I'd just as soon soak in the lake with Holleth." No, she just peeled off more of the ashy layer and pulled pins from her hair, leaving a trail on her way to flop on the bed. The baths were much farther than she felt like walking just now. "I'll wait until everyone else is finished."

Not that she was at all bodyshy, but she wanted to soak in relative peace, and with half the Weyr likely eager for a bath...she'd wait until midnight if she had to.
