Winter had established her talony hold upon the weyr. Banashe wondered how long winter was going to last this turn. She was bundled up against the cold and walking the weyrbowl. All too soon she'd be stuck in her weyr or the lower caverns unless she was out riding. While it would make threadfall easier, she wasn't looking forward to the cabin fever that was sure to creep over them. At least she could always take a ride out on Severith if she really needed a break; cold or no. A dragonrider dealt with between all the time and it was colder than it ever got here.

Severith slowly kept pace with his rider. A little walk didn't bother him. The winter gives us time to work on our plans. We can and should work on those anytime, not just winter. The teen was motivated. She wanted to rise up in the ranks that wanted to hold her back; brown or no. Banasha narrowed her eyes as a bright glint of gold caught her eye.

Watch out, its a booby, she thought sarcastically to her brown. Gold riders. The peak bane of her existence. Everything was simply handed to them on a platter. Everyone groveled to them, and Lord Holders rubbed shoulders with them. While she a female brownrider had to fight and struggle for just a little recognition. Her lips curled back slightly in a silent snarl. She didn't believe gold or bronze riders had a right to be weyrleaders just on the glitter of their dragon's hides. Banashe was determined to prove it to the weyr; some how, some way.

User Image Amodine was freezing. There was no two ways about it--High Reaches had entered winter, and it had decided to do so with a bang. Even bundled up as she was, the Goldrider was more than a little bit sick of the temperature already, and the knowledge that there would only be more of it coming almost made her want to go back to her weyr and curl up under her furs for the rest of the day. There was so much snow and ice already that Amodine wondered if anything was going to make it out of the season without being frozen solid. She herself wasn't going to escape the same fate, especially not outside as she was; the steaming mug of klah in her hands was doing a lot to help her feel more like a living person than an icicle in the making, but this was by no means her favorite kind of weather.

Alkaneth, on the other hand, was positively delighted.

The Gold was enjoying herself, plain and simple; she'd seen the snow come down, and had wasted no time in romping through the drifts with as much energy and enthusiasm as any hatchling. Sure, this was perhaps not very regal or queenly of her, but Alkaneth hardly cared when there was this much snow to run through. Amodine had come out to watch her for a few minutes, and she intended to put on a show for Hers, leaping and bounding with her eyes whirling blue-green. She'd kicked up flurries of her own, sending sprays of snow around her with gleeful abandon.
Alk, darling--there's someone coming, just so you know! Amodine's warning was the only thing that had a chance of getting her to settle down--perhaps the notice had come a little early, given the fact that Severith and Banashe weren't all that close just yet, but Amodine didn't intend to simply allow Alkaneth to plow them over accidentally. Judging by the look on Banashe's face, she wouldn't have appreciated that at all, either. Amodine trotted over to Alkaneth's side, placing a hand on her dragon's leg to still her before offering a somewhat uncertain wave toward the approaching pair; the Gold needed little further urging to calm herself, and simply responded with a low rumble of acknowledgment.

Now that her reveling was put to a temporary end, however, Alkaneth turned to look at Severith, her breath swirling around her in wispy clouds. She was glad to see him, truly--she had few enemies, and while she didn't know who Severith was exactly, it was always nice to meet someone new regardless. Just about any company was good company, in her opinion.
Hello there! she called, briefly pausing to shake a little more of the snow off of herself. Lovely day out, isn't it?
