Name: M'drin
Age: 27
Nameday: 3548.09.04
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: ???
Craft: None
Rank: Wingrider
Location: High Reaches Weyr
Physical Description:
Dark-haired and violet-eyed, M'drin is moderately tall at 6'3", as well as fairly lean. He certainly doesn't lack the muscle or strength required from a rider, but he's also not one to use his spare time to try to bulk up his physique. He looks fine enough regardless, thank you, and will leave the gunshows to others.

Personality:
M'drin grew up with a rather high opinion of himself, and with lofty goals for his future; like many a boy before him, he thought for sure a bronze would come for him, and together they'd rise through the ranks and make their mark. None of those things actually happened, but that has done little to change his air or his opinion of himself. He did, after all, Impress the very finest of dragons, regardless of Lilipath's color. Why shouldn't he carry himself with pride? He's still a rider of High Reaches, and, as it happens, an especially handsome one with impeccable taste. Though his future may not be unfolding as he had planned it, he is no less serious about his duties as a dragonrider and would never abandon High Reaches, even if he does resent the more staunch traditionalists who might dismiss him and his precious green.

He has held quite fiercely to his vanity, and at the very least to the appearance of feeling that he's a cut above the rest; and, as such, it follows that he keeps a comfortable distance between himself and most others, being disinclined to let them in too close. While it may seem obvious that he does so because he believes he's better, the truth is is that he is concealing a little seed of doubt about his supposed superiority. He still feels very keenly the loss of his greenriding mother, and guilt remains that he took her - and her dragon - for granted, and never really gave them the respect or the love that they were due, preferring instead to lean into having a bronzerider father. He's also well aware that he is now very firmly shut out from the group he'd once desperately hoped to belong to, and is even beneath the notice of no few of his former friends (or at least the ones who Impressed 'well'). One the one hand, they can all go screw themselves...on the other, it stings, leaving him reluctant to form new bonds.

For all his haughty, distant airs, however, he's not nearly as much of a p***k as he might seem upon first impression. He actually has quite the chivalrous streak, and is quick to come to the aid of anyone who looks like they may need his assistance, even if he isn't necessarily warm and fuzzy about it. He may well give the impression that he's a bit irritated at having to bother, but it's just more self-defensiveness at work. He is, in fact, quite happy to help, in spite of appearances, and finds it quite satisfying. There's just a certain amount of prickliness that comes standard with M'drin.

Get past his defenses, though, and behind them you'll find someone who will go to any length for those he loves, warm and giving and desperate to be loved back. No favor is too much if a friend asks it, and if he were to find a partner, they would likely find themselves placed upon a pedestal and much doted upon.

Positive Trait List chivalrous, devoted, dutiful
Negative Trait List haughty, prickly, distant

History:
The son of D'mon and a greenrider, Drinfalla, Mondrin had an upbringing fairly typical of a High Reaches weyrbrat. Though like any good son, he did love his mother, he was also very aware of his father's status as a bronzerider, and wanted to desperately to achieve the same. And when D'mon became Weyrleader? Mondrin imposed even greater pressure on himself to Impress bronze - how could he not, after all? The young man hung around primarily with other sons of bronzeriders, each of them convinced they would follow in their fathers' footsteps. As the Turns went on, some did, while some Impressed brown, or blue, or green, or not at all. And Mondrin continued to wait, and wait, and wait; surely his bronze would come, it just hadn't been shelled yet! All he had to do was wait, and trust in his dragon-to-be.

Then Thread returned, making it even more important to Impress and to the right dragon, and waiting became harder and harder. Still his bronze didn't come. Then, a few Turns later, his mother and her green fell to Thread. Mondrin was hit not only with grief, but with guilt, realizing only in hindsight just how much he had loved his mother and her dragon, and that he had never appreciated them as he should have. He'd been proud of one parent, but not the other, and idolized one dragon while taking the other for granted. It shook him, and though he continued to hang around with the same group of friends, he secretly paid more attention to the non-metallic dragonets at Hatchings.

Still, he waited, and one clutch after the other, had nothing to show for it. Finally, right as he was on the cusp of aging out, his dragon came for him - or, rather, demanded that she come to him, to escort her properly off the Sands. They were dutiful, dedicated Weyrlings, and made it through their training with no major mishaps.

Other:

DRAGON - - - -
Name: Lilipath
Age: 1
Color: Green
Size: 39'
Physical Description:
Though she is a bit longer from nose to tail than the smallest greens, Lilipath is nonetheless a very dainty, delicate dragon, possessed of fine features and a fragile sort of elegance.

Personality
Gentle and very traditionally feminine, Lilipath is an absolute princess of a green, the very picture of poise and grace. She is unfailingly polite and genteel in the company of others, all blue-green eyes and sincere pleasantries. And though she may be a princess among greens, she is fully aware of her place in the hierarchy of High Reaches, and would never think to even try to outshine a Queen. Whether or not she fully agrees is impossible to tell - she'd never admit it even to herself or Hers - but she has certainly accepted it. After all, what else is a gentlelady to do?

That being said, she does have expectations about how she, as a lady, should be treated, and will not long abide those more negative traditionalists who might belittle or put her down because of her color. Green in general may be 'common,' but she is not, thank you, nor is any other individual. They each have their own worth and right to be. Lilipath borders on high maintenance, though she would deny it; after all, isn't it every lady's right to be treated well? Still, she is very particular about her routines, and her rider must be exceptionally thorough about her care. She must be bathed and oiled just so, and she expects to be adored by them at all times.

If and when Lilipath deigns to be courted by someone, they too must adore her, and she will tolerate no straying gaze, no matter who else is Rising. She must be their one and only, always.
