The Hatching for Zenobiath's clutch was imminent. Holleth's interest in such affairs was, in general, minimal at best. It was good for the Weyr, of course, as it meant that many more dragons to take up the fight against Thread, but unlike some, he had no preoccupation with the perceived cuteness of hatchlings, no great wonder at the joy of new life. Then again, no one could ever accuse him of being an excitable dragon; an enthusiasm he felt for anything tended to be rather muted, and displayed in only the most composed manner.
This Hatching, however, did hold some interest for him, as Western had once again been invited to attend, meaning that a certain Candidate would be joining them for the next sevenday. More, ideally, although Holleth knew better than to form too much of an expectation. There was no telling what the end result might actually be, regardless of his own preferences. His had been restless of late, particularly since the Flight, and he would rather that not continue indefinitely. He found it a touch distracting (which, he supposed, was only fair, given that she had been subject to his discontent for some months, so he did not complain).
Near the end of Western's first day in residence, the dark blue left his ledge to settle himself out in the Bowl, unbothered by the snow and mountain cold. Their duties were all done for the day, leaving them free to do as they pleased, and the Candidates would likely have been released by now as well. Holleth reached out with a soft, quiet touch, a sort of polite notice of his intention to speak before he actually spoke. He didn't often bespeak humans apart from His, as he did not wish to be intrusive. When you are finished with your obligations for the day, please find me outside, if you would. Mine would like to catch up with you again in person, while you are here.
As opposed to the absurdity of having to go elsewhere.

Patient as ever, once Holleth had relayed the message, he was content to wait, not at all concerned that Lauthisen would take overlong. He would be ready when he was ready, and that was perfectly fine. When the Candidate at last emerged, the delicate little blue drew himself up and spread his wings, hoping to make himself a touch more visible in the dark. Here, he indicated. I will take you up, if that is agreeable with you. It is quite high up, and if you were to take the stairs, you would no sooner arrive than have to start back down again to be back to the Barracks before your curfew.
It was an exaggeration, delivered with dry humor, although their weyr was quite high. And small. He was only a young - and very small - blue, after all, and so he and His were relegated to a location some might consider undesirable. He quite enjoyed it, however, and Talis had no complaints beyond a rather persistent draft, but that was easily combatted with extra coverings and furs.

There he was. Lauthisen didn't bother to hide his admiration as Holleth elegantly rose to his feet, spreading his wings. Though a small blue, he was beautifully proportioned and possessed a natural elegance that most did not. The offer to be taken up--well, he was quite aware of the honor, and found himself smiling in the darkness despite himself. "As much as I think Talis would love to see me out of breath and miserable, yes. It would be very agreeable with me." He spoke out loud, knowing Holleth was loud enough to hear him.
He approached quietly, and, not showing the flicker of hesitance he felt, reached out to place a hand on the blue's neck. His hide was incredibly soft and warm, very pleasing to the touch. "Thank you, Holleth." He said quietly. He knew the blue didn't have to do this.

Indeed, Holleth agreed, the sense of amusement only deepening. Lauthisen didn't know the half of it, but that thought the blue kept to himself, and found it rather delightfully satisfying to do so. Talis would have been terribly amused by an out of breath, miserable Lauthisen, but perhaps another time. Miserable would most likely not be in the cards today, from what he had been skimming from His' mind.
Of course, he added when thanked. It was no trouble, truly; he was fond of Lauthisen, and it certainly disn't hurt that the Candidate thought so well of him. Though not vain in the conventional sense, he did appreciate such validation when it came. He positioned himself to make climbing aboard easier, and once the young man was settled, would spring lightly into the air to wing his way up to their weyr.
A little mental touch let His know Our guest has arrived as he crouched down to male dismounting easier. Within the tiny, rather sparse weyr, Talis would be found tending to straps after the day's use.

With Holleth's aid, it was surprising easy to climb aboard... and once the blue dragon launched himself into the sky, he had to suppress a whoop of delight. Sure, it felt like his stomach had been left behind on the ground, but they were flying. The wind whipped against his face and through his hair, and he crouched until he was nearly against Holleth's neck, eyes wide and a grin unconsciously pulling at his lips. Though he'd ridden on a dragon before, it was something he didn't think he'd ever view as ordinary. How could he? Humans were destined to stay on the ground, but dragons....
In truth, the short flight was over all too soon, but Lauthisen's apprehension had been left behind back in the Weyrbowl. He slipped from the blue, thanking him quietly with another touch on his neck before he turned to look for Talis. The quarters were small, but serviceable, and he eyed the straps she was working on with mild interest. "Hey," Was all he said, pleased to see her even as he stepped closer to better look the straps over.
So much leather and so many buckles... It was a wonder she could keep them all straight, but that's what time and teaching could do. "Thanks," For the ride, and for letting him come up here.

"Mm," she agreed, noting the way he rolled his shoulder, but continuing on the topic of temperature. "Cold's easier to remedy, for sure. Hot...well, you can only take off so many clothes, even in a Weyr."
Talis paused for long enough to carefully gather up and set aside the straps in their proper place. "One more benefit to Impressing here, I guess - the weather's much more agreeable." Doubtless there were Western transfers who would vehemently disagree, but given that Holleth actually liked the cold, she'd developed an appreciation for it herself. "Though it's not the best time of year to have to bathe your dragon every day, I'll admit."
