[DUEL] A Rematch? Certainly. (Ignis & Reithi)

Reithi was at the border again. She felt good about her win, and she wanted to try again. The faster she could become a Shield Maiden, the faster she could go on Vikings with the menfolk. She wanted to adorn her wife in golden trinkets, she wanted to capture her own thralls.

It was so close she could taste it.

She gave a small huff, eyes on the border for a challenger. If no one came soon, she would tackle one of the other ladies. The waiting was the worst part of guarding the borders, after all. If no one attempted to gain entry, then they had to entertain themselves...

Ignis was back. Again. He may not have been having the best streak, but you had to admit that he was tenacious. He was hoping that this time around, he would have a better outcome than before. After licking his preverbal wounds once more, he had spent the last few days practicing in the hopes that he would at least show that they’d improved.

Only time would tell.... and that time was now.

Ignis had been about to let out another roar of challenge, but the pacing black form was hard to miss. He withheld the groan, instantly recognizing the lioness as the one from before.

Well... he had wanted to show that he had learned. What better way than by taking on the one that had beaten him before?

The one that ultimately approached her was someone she was quite familiar with. She remembered pinning him, though the fight was not an easy one. They'd both had time to rest and recover from their previous duel.

If he was lucky, he could probably beat her this time.

"Welcome back. Are you here to try again?" She asked, getting herself mentally prepared for he battle. Win or lose, she knew she had to train more after their battle. He was so close last time, after all. She knew she needed to build her stamina in battle.

She knew taunting him could end up a mistake, but perhaps he would be able to prove himself this time. She couldn't imagine the frustration.

The male nodded, “Yes, and this time, I dare say I’ll be walking away with my win.” Taunt or not, he was out to prove himself today. Sure, you could argue that that was what he’d said last time, but this time for sure!

Ignis gave himself a mental shake in an attempt to psych himself up for the fight to come. He needed to watch his balance this time, and make sure he kept up a steady stream of attacks to keep himself from getting pinned.

Squaring himself up in front of her, he waited this time for her to make the first move.

The dark lioness gave a small laugh. "Well, I won't be going easy on you." She wouldn't let anyone in with ease, they had to get in on their merits alone. She needed her wins as much as the male needed to win to enter the pride as a member.

He was able and strong enough, she doubted he would accept being taken as a thrall. She could admire that. She gave a last grin, a barring of her teeth that was as much a friendly gesture as an unfriendly one.

She lunged at him, right after.

She waste no time in coming at him, but this time he was prepared. Bracing himself, Ignis waited until she was close enough that he could almost feel her paws thumping against the ground, before he slid to hit side in a feint.

Barely wasting another moment, he whipped his paws up before swiping them both down as hard as he could against her back. It probably wouldn’t be enough to pin her, no it was far too early into the fight for that...

But it would hopefully be enough to throw her off balance. That’s what got him last time. Perhaps it would be what turned it in his favor this time.

It definitely had not been enough to pin her, but it at least knocked her right off balance. She stumbled under the weight of the male. She didn't fall, though, but she did stumble away in an attempt to gain some distance between the two of them.

"So you have learned a thing or two. If you keep learning at this pace, you'll fit into the pride quite nicely," she told him honestly. She eyed him for a moment, she kept moving as she did so, but not quite pacing.

After a moment, she lunged at him, in hopes of getting in a hit.

With the hit a success, he smirked back but kept himself focused. He couldn't afford to get cocky just yet, not with the duel still going. He was out to show he was worthy of being part of the pride.

Ignis watched as she lunged at him and, seeing it as an opportunity, he waited until she was right on him, before lowering himself and then charging right back at her. His hope was to use her momentum to flip her around. If he was lucky, he might even managed to throw her upside down.

Hoping that his tactic would work, he threw himself back into her, aiming for her chest and stomach.
