Teth was flying overhead, as was one of his clutchmates if F'ell's eyes were not wrong. The blue had traveled with them after all, since Teth had all but demanded the company of his brother, and there was to be no surprise that the other dragon had risen. It was nice to see some blue among the browns and the bronze, and F'ell was casually trying to find a quiet place when he spotted another streak of blue join the skies. He knew that dragon, and for a brief instant his heart thudded against his rib cage. He'd thought about Sam being here and how he'd wanted to find him.

Why he wanted to be with him wasn't quite as clear, as he was still sorting out everything and trying to keep his mind separate from the eagerness that was Teth. His brown was so happy to be flying and chasing, even more delighted with his brother and his good friend at his side. It was making things hard for F'ell and he wobbled a little as he continued down the path he thought to be the right way. He'd grown up in High Reaches, he'd visited a few times with Teth, there was no reason for him to not know where to go.

Either way his feet carried him towards Sam'kel's weyr, or the area he thought was where it was. He'd slept over before when there was free time and they had plans to hang out, but now? Was he just going to hide? His head was starting to hurt, perhaps back-to-back flights was one of the worst things for him to experience while out and traveling. Teth was going to be okay and would fly off whatever the result, but the rider? He was almost there, he needed to hurry up before he just sat down and waited for everything to be done.

Thankfully he thought, maybe, was it? The door to Sam's weyr seemed to be open with the man in question standing before it, and the rider felt himself start running towards him as though he was desperate for something.

The tight coil in Sam’kel’s chest had yet to ease, if only seemed to worsen as he near physically felt Kinitarth take off after Neiveth. The blue had rarely ever chased after a green, and had usually only lounged on his ledge to watch them take off -- a minor headache for Sam’kel that was gone usually by the following day. This, however? Something had given his blue a drive that felt more like someone had set his blood on fire--and it had only started.

Yet he’d felt the happiness in his bond at Kinitarth spying a familiar brown, one he’d been so happy to meet at Western when he’d hatched. Teth. Which had meant F’ell was here at High Reaches. With threadfall and the recovery, he hadn’t been able to make a trip to go see his.. Friend. Yet now they were so close, and his body sings almost traitorously.

His doorway feels almost foreign, wide open as he waits in the threshold. Should he be waiting? Something told him no, to run and find who he was waiting for. Deep breath, count backwards from five. He takes a step, eyeing down the hallway as he hears so many sets of shuffling steps. Perhaps from ten…

Yet his patience is rewarded, as the quite familiar face of his long time childhood friend, his first love, came into sight. F’ell looked.. likely as out of sorts as he did. Wobbling as he went, and as the other rider broke out into a run, Sam’kel felt his himself move. His stride lengthened to meet F’ell halfway, the Weyr melting away as his arms swooped to gather F’ell in his arms.

Sam, sam, sam SAM SAM. There was no need to talk as F'ell connected with Sam'kel, the older riders arms circling about his body. He suddenly felt far more safe, far less panicked than before, and for the first time since Teth took the air F'ell took what felt like his first real breath of air. His own arms wrapped tightly against the frame of his childhood friend, and he buried his face into Sam'kel's chest. He hoped he didn't need to talk more, that maybe his friend's dragon had done the talking for him and he knew why he was there, knew why he was trembling and anxious.

He should have been able to fight this and sleep it off with nary a headache, but coming back to High Reaches had set him off balance, and then the green rising...? So close to the one that had risen back at Western, and so Teth was feeling it so strong and so excited and - F'ell's thoughts were jumbling so quickly he could only hold on to Sam'kel as if letting go meant he was going to fall away.

"He....he...hel..p....help." His voice cracked a little as he spoke, his words muffled as he squeezed tightly. "Sa...sam. Sam."

The sensation of suddenly feeling grounded floods Sam’kel, as if he can suddenly feet the stone underfoot, that he wasn’t in a halfstate of in the air and in the Weyr. Kinitarth oh so rarely gave chase that it often left him in a tizzy whenever the blue deemed it time to take to the air. Having F’ell’s slight form in his arms felt familiar, grounding. Safe in the comfort of his childhood friend, who had been the fire in his torch for so many years. The center of his world--there was no Weyr, nothing else burned in his mind but F’ell, F’ell, F’ell.

His body felt as if it were thrumming, his blood singing. Yet a hand gently weaves through the fluffy hair of his friend, kissing the top of their head. “I got you.” He always would. But anything beyond Neiveth’s dancing in Kinitarth’s eyes and how familiar F’ell felt in his arms was to worry about later. For now, his arms move back lower and scoop up the brownrider, all but carrying him back to the safety of his weyr, and it’s almost an afterthought that Sam’kel kicked the door shut with his heel. “I got you..”

It was sort of odd how comforted he'd always felt whenever he was with Sam'kel. The feeling hadn't much changed since he was a child, he thought, even though they were both much older and at a different stage of their lives. But even with as much that had come to pass between them, being in Sam'kel's arms brought him back to memories of yesterday.

"Sam...Sam..." When he was kissed atop his head, when he was lifted up, F'ell didn't resist. His entire body was singing in the bluerider's touch, and the heat from the flight was slowly leaking its way through his veins. "Teth is.......chasing." He probably shouldn't have said something so obvious; F'ell knew that Kinitarth had to be chasing as well, or else Teth wouldn't be nearly as excited as he was. A blue brother was flying as well, nearly doubling all the delight, and the brownrider couldn't help but wrap his legs about Sam's midsection.

Everything felt okay, everything felt wonderful, but this wasn't him. F'ell was certain the emotions running him into wanting to be closer to Sam weren't entirely his, but at the same time the distinction between Teth's lust and his rationale was fading quickly. He wanted kissed, he wanted held. He needed to be held, even if his brain couldn't give him a concrete reason why.

Feeling so utterly grounded nearly makes Sam’kel want to sob, a connection to F’ell that was grounded in turns worth of growing up together. F’ell was a near lifetime away from him now, a rider at Western Weyr. Yet these facts melt away while he has his form in his arms, nothing exists beyond the beating of his heart, the man in his arms, and Kinitarth’s own sung praises.

The delight rolling off his dragon cannot compare to anything at having Teth so close to him, even the flight itself.

This isn’t himself. But the world was draining away for the flightlust that always swamped Sam’kel with how infrequent Kinitarth chose to chase. But he feels safe, feels okay in this moment, enough that it’s all he can do to stagger backwards, not under the weight of F’ell so much as the last shred of himself to get behind a closed door. Sam’kel pulled F’ell in for a kiss as his heel finally made contact with the corner of his door, kicking it shut.

====

When the fog finally lifted from Sam’kel’s mind, he can barely keep ahold of himself. It’s a slow roll to consciousness, aware of Kinitarth’s contented slumber on his ledge before he’s even aware of the sheets under his fingers. He wracks his brain, before he remembers the flight. Right. Neiveth’s flight. The bluerider gently stretches his muscles out, the soreness that he isn’t quite proud of when it finally clicks into place just who he had taken to bed.

Wasn’t it quite the change that instead of the slight, flittery hope was now replaced with a more dread-like feeling. Sam’kel gently rubbed his face with a hand before slowly opening his eyes. “..F’ell?”

F'ell was there, his naked form sleeping beneath the sheets. Rest had come easily to the brownrider, his body and spirit both worn out yet heavily comforted, and it took the calling of his name to even stir him out from the deep state he'd slumbered in. A few bleary blinks found him opening his eyes properly, and the teen groaned as he shifted to sit up. This was not his bed. This wasn't his bed and this wasn't this room and this wasn't his Weyr at all, and for a brief moment he narrowed his eyes.

" . . . . . " He'd never been good with waking up in the mornings anyway, but was it really morning? A reach out to Teth had him feel the dragon sleeping (excessively content, at that) and F'ell frowned as he sat up more. Who'd called his name? The voice was familiar, but at this point in time basically nostalgic. A voice he hadn't heard in a long time. A vo......Sam. His movements lead him to spot the body beside him, and the dots connected. F'ell was in Sam'kel's bed, in his weyr, at High Reaches. There had been a flight, Teth had joined, and -

". . . . S.....Sam. Sam'kel." It felt weird on his tongue to say his childhood friend's proper name, especially since he could recall having whimpered it a few times earlier. ". . . . . . . . ." What should he say? Sorry? Good morning? F'ell certainly wasn't sorry, as things like this happened. If anything...

". . .T...ththank you."
