Strange Weather ☂

Solo or RP Format
Counts as 5 RP growth Points
Solo word minimum is 750, RP post minimum is 7

Prompt

As Spring rolls into Summer in Tendaji it appears that something is not as it should be. In fact, strange and unpredictable weather is happening all across the world. Strong storms, bizarre heat waves, unheard of snow storms, floods, and other similar events are happening in all of the countries. Some are superstitious, seeing it as a warning of great evil, others blame the Dretch, some shrug it off as a freaky incident, and others ignore that it's even such an oddity.

However, one thing is certain - all the lands are dealing with these weird weather outbreaks in their own way. How are you handling matters? Do you try to help others, are you too focused on yourself, or do you want to try and find answers for the causes behind these recent events? Or did you get caught out in the disaster yourself and these are your memories of how you had to fight against the odds to get to safety?

Basically this is a solo (or a rp with a friend) to write out how your character is being affected by these strange occurrences in Tendaji.

Please see the below to see what is occurring in each region!

Chibale and Matori are both suffering from snow - something that has rarely hit these warmer countries before! A blizzard especially is unheard of.

Jahaur and Yael are experiencing drought. Rain hasn't fallen for the last couple of weeks...

Tale, Sauti, and Oba are experiencing massive amounts of rain to the point that some of the desert is flooding.

Zena is having the strangest heat wave and some areas once covered year-round with snow and ice are even starting to melt...

Belrea is shaken. Literally. A huge earthquake has ripped through the continent scaring many and even now faint rumbles from its impact shift at random beneath your feet.

The trip home was ruined when it was clear that the ship was not going to be able to make port in Matori. The ocean was frozen close to shore and it looked like all of Matori was coated in a thick blanket of snow. Gael had come to the deck after hearing the commotion from below. The chilly air that greeted him was enough to make him shiver but it the sight that met his eyes that truly made him shudder. Drach'ti must be in a foul mood indeed to make such things happen. The thing that frightened him more was that Ubeli'ae must be equally upset to allow it to happen.

“Have you ever seen such a thing Gael? Snow on Matori ground.” The man next to him spoke out in wonder as he moved to the rail and placed both hands on it.

Gael shook his head unable to put words in his mouth over what was happening. Before long almost everyone that was aboard the ship was on deck and staring. Even the captain. He came over to stand in the center, which just so happened to be next to Gael, and shook his head. “Sorry men, looks like we'll be at sea for a while longer. We just received word that Oba is flooding.” He held up a sheet of paper that had the harbor master's seal on it.

A murmur of disbelief went through the crowd and Gael turned his head to look in the direction he knew Oba to be in. Those desert shores were out of sight but he knew they were there, lurking over the horizon. What he couldn't explain was why everything was happening.

“What if a storm comes captain? We'll be sitting ducks out here.” The voice of another sailor rose up.

Gael tuned out the conversation since he knew there was no helping it. Captain said they would be at sea for a while longer and it looked like both ports were either full or too dangerous to make it into. The ship they were on was not meant to sail through thick ice. If they tried then they would break the hull. All that would do is sink the ship and force all the men into the cold waters. They would likely freeze to death before they made it to shore. Even if they did make it then they would freeze in the cold snows before they made it to somewhere warm.

All he could really think about was small groups taking the row boats to the ice in the hopes that it was thick enough to withstand their weight as they crossed. Gael couldn't see that being a good idea either since none of the men on board were dressed for such cold weather. The only places the ship ever went were Yael, Oba, and Matori, all of which had nice warm climates. Nothing compared to what was happening in Matori now.

“What's on your mind Gael?” The man from earlier came over after having seen the thoughtful look on his face.

“It's just weird. Matori has never seen such weather before. And Oba is flooding?” Gael shook his head. Something was really wrong. The gods were clearly displeased with something. “An offering should be made to Ubeli'ae while we are staying on her domain. Hopefully she will protect us.”

“I get ya. I mean we've had cool days before but not no snow.” The man nodded his head and looked out at the shore again. “You think the gods are doing it or you think maybe someone is trying to prove themselves a god?” He posed the innocent question.

That was something Gael had not considered and when it was voiced he jerked his head up and stared at the man with wide eyes. After a second of stunned silence he hissed and looked around before moving closer to press his hand over the man's mouth. “You don't ever suggest such a thing again while the lot of us are in Ubeli'ae's territory. It's an insult.” He looked up once then removed his hand from the man's mouth so that he could step away again. “Are you trying to incur her wrath?” He shook his head at the man and rolled his eyes before moving on down the deck to a less crowded area.

“Sorry Gael, I just..” after a mean look from Gael the man shut up. “Yeah. So.. got any solutions?”

All the Matorian male could do was shake his head. He was fresh out of fixes for this kind of problem.
