Personality:
Cheerful - His amazing luck tends to translate into perpetual optimism. Regardless of how bleak things may look for others, he knows it will somehow work out in his favor. Always a smile on his face, though it can be a bit annoying to those who don't share in his luck. Though things work out for him, it can't always be said for his companions.
Playful - Jiaya is playful to a fault. He has an immense dislike for work and responsibility, preferring to keep to the spontaneity allowed him during his youngling years. Having no expectations from his mother, and little from his father, he tends to fill his days with adventuring, testing the limits of his luck, but only so much as would be fun to him.
Reckless - While his luck tends to keep him in good health, he finds himself often not thinking before rushing into situations. Things do tend to work out, but he will put himself in danger far quicker than most, trusting that the Gods will keep him safe. He generally keeps himself fairly isolated, finding that others often don't care to share in his less-than-careful excursions.
Description: Violet hair, typically pinned back into a loose ponytail. Black crystals along his shoulders and hips, the most distinct design being reminiscent of a clover with smaller crystals scattered around them. His ever-present smile is slightly gap-toothed.
Clothing: His standard attire consists of a tan vest and rip-kneed pants, finished off with simple brown boots.
Accessories: While his floral accessories are ever-changing, the one ever-present item is an acorn earring dangling from his right ear. This seemingly meaningless trinket is a momento from his first truly ‘lucky’ feat.
History:
His mother had been observed by the Sanctum for a short while, before finding that any odd behaviors she may have had were nothing more than phases, easily outgrown. Her own mother was intensely disappointed, believing that her daughter had been forsaken.
When Jiaya was born, his mother had hopes that he would redeem their family. As he became old enough, she contacted the Sanctum and had the child monitored. While his luck was truly amazing, he was found to be less than desired for priesthood.
His mother blames herself for his short-comings, insisting this to be the fault of her own forsaken status, the Gods turning from him due to his closeness to her. Since this, she hopes to counteract all of this, distancing herself from her son.
For a time, Jiaya had felt ashamed, that he had been as much a disappointment to his mother as she had been. He had done everything he could to earn her favor, but it did little to change her mind. The more he attempted to become close, the more she pushed him away, always with the thought that it was for his own good. Eventually, he no longer attempted, but accepted that the woman would never care for him as most mothers would for their children.
While his mother tends to keep from him, his father tries to overcome this, including him as often as is possible. Jiaya's father often takes him along on hunts, doing his best to help the young Yaeli to find his place in their society. He gladly took to his father's nurturing, though he holds little interest in the hunts.
As an only child, his father dotes on him, perhaps a bit more than would be reasonable. Jiaya's father has no remaining family in the village, and his mother's family has become increasingly estranged, treating his mother, and Jiaya, as utterly disgraced. For this reason, the young Yaeli has no knowledge of his mother's family, his parents finding it best to keep him unaware of this.
Outside of his family, the youth is very personable, more than happy to be around others. He tends toward very loosely formed relationships, most of his 'friends' being unable to handle too many of his excursions. Despite his incredibly optimistic outlook, he tends to find himself in some less than desirable situations.
