The Painted Egg
Prompt 1

Solo or RP Format
Counts as 5 RP growth Points
Solo word minimum is 750, RP post minimum is 7

Spring has arrived in Tendaji; in most places flowers were blooming while others might only see a slight temperature increase. The weather was nice so you decide to take a stroll. As you leave town and enter a small clearing, you notice strange colorful dots all throughout the grass.

"Oh stop right there!"

Freezing, you stop with your foot hovering just a breath above the grass and then as you slowly take one step backwards you notice that something colorful had been nestled against the ground. What was this? A Gaein girl comes forward and offers a big smile, "Thank you for stopping! You nearly crushed the egg." From there she explains that the whole field is full of colorful eggs that she had spread out for the villagers to find. Apparently in Belrea this time of year is a time for festivities and one of their most popular games is finding brightly dyed eggs that children create with their parents who later hide them away. As a member of the Academy she had been granted permission to come and share this knowledge with those in Tendaji and so offers to allow you to play with those already shifting through the wide expanse of fields.

After being out for a walk and running into an earth tribe woman she found herself tilting her head with curiosity. Mainly because she had been told of a tradition where the people would paint eggs and hide them for others to find. A game of sorts. Ming thought that the painting of the eggs could be fun. After all, the patterns that people came up with would surely be interesting and it would give little ones a fun activity to do rather than getting under their parents' feet. If she had any children then she would certainly use the idea of egg painting. The shell didn't effect what was inside so even once the egg was painted one could still cook the contents.

The woman that had given her this information excused herself as she went to tell someone else about the tradition and Ming'we nodded her head at her. To think, if she hadn't gone on this walk then she wouldn't have learned of the idea. She had to guess that it was a good thing that she had needed to make a trip into the village. After all, Ming lived on the outside of town.

“Mama! Mama! Over there!” A child nearby was tugging on her mother and pointing toward an egg that stood out against the brown rock.

“I see it! I see it!” The mother laughed and rushed along behind her daughter as she was pulled along.

The half alk woman stared at the child then followed to where she pointed. It was enough to cause an ache in her chest. Ming'we had long since thought about having a child but in order to do so she would need a male. At least, she assumed as much. Her body worked very similar to that of an earthling rather than the amazons of Chibale.

Pulling herself from her thoughts of children she began to look around to see if she could find an egg or two of her own. Even though she had no one to enjoy the game with she still felt that she could have fun by herself. If nothing else then she could find eggs for the other children if they were having no luck on their own. That would be rewarding enough she was sure. So her pure blue eyes searched left and right, hoping to catch sight of a brightly colored egg hiding among the tall grass that sprouted out between the rocks.

A bright blue egg peeks out at her from behind a rock and she makes her way toward it. No one seemed to have noticed it previously since it still lay where it had been placed. Picking it up from the ground she holds it up and examines the patterns painted onto it. They were swirling lines that reminded her of clouds in the sky. The color also gave her the impression. Giving a small chuckle, and finding that she was enjoying herself, she started to look for another egg.

When she spots another egg she moves over toward it and smiles even wider. As she leaned over to collect it she noticed that there was something a bit different about it. Holding it up she compares it to the other one she has. There was just something odd. Not that she could really put her finger on it. However, the longer she stared at it the more it seemed to.. glow? Ming'we turned her head as if expecting the thing to blow up in her face. With a wary expression she watched the glow dim to almost non existence. What sort of egg had she found!? Wanting to investigate it a bit more she brought it closer so she could maybe find a clue to tell her that it was merely a trick. The glow returned. This time it lasted longer. When she was sure that it was not a danger she brought it even closer, this time cupping the egg in both hands and forming an enclosure. She put her eye up against her hands and tried to see if she might spy what was inside the egg.

Well, she couldn't. The shell was too thick to give her that little clue but what she did notice is that the egg wobbled in her hands. Instantly she pulled her face away and opened her hands a bit so that she could see what was going on. Was it her? Had her grip or the way she was holding it caused the egg to move? When it moved again she knew the answer to that. It wasn't her. It was the egg. It moved again and this time seemed to crack a little. It was in that moment that she knew that whatever was inside was about to hatch. Ming just prayed it wasn't a bird of prey with a mother lurking close at hand.
