The Painted Egg
Prompt 1

Solo or RP Format
Counts as 5 RP growth Points
Solo word minimum is 750, RP post minimum is 7

Spring has arrived in Tendaji; in most places flowers were blooming while others might only see a slight temperature increase. The weather was nice so you decide to take a stroll. As you leave town and enter a small clearing, you notice strange colorful dots all throughout the grass.

"Oh stop right there!"

Freezing, you stop with your foot hovering just a breath above the grass and then as you slowly take one step backwards you notice that something colorful had been nestled against the ground. What was this? A Gaein girl comes forward and offers a big smile, "Thank you for stopping! You nearly crushed the egg." From there she explains that the whole field is full of colorful eggs that she had spread out for the villagers to find. Apparently in Belrea this time of year is a time for festivities and one of their most popular games is finding brightly dyed eggs that children create with their parents who later hide them away. As a member of the Academy she had been granted permission to come and share this knowledge with those in Tendaji and so offers to allow you to play with those already shifting through the wide expanse of fields.

[ Roll a 1d20 to determine what happens during your hunt!]

10. You're a little late to the party, all the younglings have already gathered all the eggs before you even got a chance, how sad!
11. You find a total of 5, totally normal, painted eggs!.

14. As you're walking, you hear a strange noise coming from the bushes. A keldari pops out at you! Whether you get startled or just shoo it away, a few eggs fall out of your basket and crack as they hit the ground.
15. You find a total of 3, totally normal, painted eggs!
16. You're walking towards a particular egg when you feel something beneath your foot as you take a step. Whew! Close call, you move your foot and the egg remains unharmed and you add it to your basket!
17. You find a total of 15, totally normal, painted eggs!
18. You feel your basket start to wiggle a bit and then hear giggling. As you look down, you see a youngling taking your eggs! They make off with 4 of your eggs before you have a chance to stop them!
19. You find an unpainted egg. Figuring it's not a part of the egg hunt, you leave it alone and continue on.
20. It seems that something is weird about one of the eggs you've picked up. As you stare at it the egg begins to wobble and even glows from the inside?! It later hatches into a Sitara!

Her time spent in Zena was leaving her fingers and toes feeling like they might fall off. V'demhe wasn't so sure she was in her right mind when she had agreed to come with her son. Still, she didn't think that she would have chosen anything else. Her children meant the world to her and if making sure he made it to the icy land in the mountains so that he could visit his family made him happy then she would gladly do it. Feeling that she needed to do something to warm up her didgits and piggys Dem opted for a walk. The blood flow would certainly help them. Even though she now wore fur just about everywhere she could her body needed to produce more heat in order to keep heat in.

So after wrapping herself up all nice and tight like in her fur coat V'demhe headed out for a walk. Thankfully the wind had taken a break so there was no harshness biting at her cheeks and ears. Or her poor antennae. They had taken quite a bit of a beating since she'd arrived in Zena. Mostly from the wind and added weight of icicles hanging off the ends.

Up ahead of her she noticed that a few people, the members of the Ice Tribe, had started to hunt around for something. A lot of people were involved so she was beginning to wonder just what it was that they were looking for. Was it valuable? Or somehow important? Then all of a sudden she heard the voice of a young girl call out to her and tell her to stop where she was. V'demhe thought it odd but she did stop non-the-less. Bringing her solid black gaze to rest on the girl Dem quickly realized that she was from the tribe that had come in those flying boats. The “airships.” Not that she could remember the exact name of the tribe in question. The alkidike had heard of them being referred to as the earth tribe though and so she went with that.

As the girl spoke to her about her homeland and the traditions there Dem felt her head tilting to the side ever so slightly with curiosity. This land, this Belrea, sounded intriguing. It might also warrant a trip just to see what all the fuss was about. Though that would have to be reserved for another day. This day she was taken in by the custom of brightly painted eggs and the fact that one was meant to hide them. It was enough to make her raise her brow. Why hide them?

Before V'demhe got the chance to ask the girl was off to explain the tradition to someone else. So it took her a moment before she decided to join in. What else did she have to do at the moment? Nothing, that's what. So she moved along, joining in with the others as they each searched for an egg. The alk felt like she was at a disadvantage since she was much taller than the earthlings. They were lower to the ground and would be able to spot the eggs more easily. At least, that is what she assumed. But when she found a large egg she guessed that the advantage wasn't a factor. Dem bent over and collected the egg in question so that she might take it along with her.

However, there was something rather odd about her egg. Not only was it larger than the others that she had seen being picked up, but it lacked the bright colors and patterns. Was it perhaps not part of the game? The tall woman lifted her egg up so that it was face level and stared at it questioningly. Should she return it? Give it to someone else? No. Dem figured she would keep it since she had found it and so it was tucked into her coat to be kept warm. That is what one did with an egg, right? Kept it warm? So many questions about her egg and no answers to really be found. Then the thought occurred to her that she could ask her friend. Certainly they would know something. The egg, now warm and cozy in her coat, had other ideas though. Rather than wait to make it back to her friend's house the egg decided that it was time to... hatch?

A cracking sound came from the egg and instantly Dem paused where she was. Her antennae gave a twitch and she peeked into her fur coat. What met her was a small face with big round eyes. Only, this was no cold mountain animal.. it was a beast from Oba. If her eyes could have been seen clearly by others then they would have caught sight of the Alkidike rolling her eyes as she muttered something under her breath. It seemed that she now had another beast to add to her growing herd.
