Humming softly to herself, the petite young woman swung her legs a little as she looked out the window of the bus. At her stop she stood and walked off the bus, waving to the driver before getting off. Syndel's black eyes peered around curiously as the crisp air filled her lungs. The cold didn't bother her, it never did, she thought absently as she made her way to the bookstore. Childlike energy radiated from this youthful female that made her way down the sidewalk.

In this chill autumn morning that had her feeling at home, the streets were a bustling with the early rises and store owners. It was a typical Wednesday in her mind, nothing abnormal at all. As she glanced around, she noted the street lamps still alight with orange glows slowly fading as the sun would light the streets.
"Such a wonderful morning," she thought to herself as she passed the usual Kona Cafe, and other stores along the way. The wind gently blew her ebony locks back as she walked, seeming to have not a care in the world.

It wasn't very far from the bus stop that she would make her stop in front of a tall, simple-looking, powder blue Edwardian-style store building that stood three stories from the ground up, a powder blue sign with white script in the bottom of showcase window read "Help Wanted" in the corner. Smiling a little to herself as she walked up to the white, glass-plated door with elegant silver script that read "Good Reads Book Shop", Syndel couldn't help but note the welcome warmth it gave her. Just a few years ago, she had inherited the book store, and still it surprised and delighted her. As she was lost in her thoughts, she took out the silver-colored key and slid it into the lock before turning with a satisfying click and tinkling of the bell. Unlocked and pushing it open, the young store owner was overjoyed to see the walls upon walls of books that resembled an endless haven for bibliophiles like herself. This was the one place for them to retreat, explore, and discover other worlds between the pages of a good book, and she hoped to help her fellow bookworms another day as she stepped in, switched on the lights and the door slowly closed behind her.

Unlike the classic powder blue look on the outside, the store itself was quite modern and tan on the inside. Wasting no time, Syndel made her way further in the bookstore and made her way to the steel stairs that would take her up to the second floor, then up a second set of stairs to check on things in the office. It was not very big, but it wasn't cramped either; it had a nice cherry wood Edwardian-style desk and two sitting chairs before it, and atop the desk was a computer and keyboard that she kept all the store's information under digital lock and key. She'd then set down her messenger bag of a purse under the desk before sitting in the comfy leather chair and warming up the computer, leaving the office door open so she could listen for anything downstairs.

tab tab The door to the bookstore opens, ringing, as a girl, looking innocent enough, enters. Looking around for a moment, she doesn't notice anyone in particular of interest, though after the fun of last night, she wasn't expecting a whole lot. The Kua girl had been sent to prison, though it looked like the incompetent officer had released her and brought her to his house. She'd have to throw a wrench into Luna's plans later. In the meantime, she simply browsed the bookstore, as if looking for something of import.

Draken shifted along the sidewalk as he had left his home behind for a bit. His shoulders rolled forward as he tried to keep himself covered from the eight mile per hour winds. It came along with keeping his frame as small as possible so people didn't notice him as much. Not that ever helped with his curse, he still felt others and most of them were just groggy and grumpy as it was mid week. Of course this rubbed off on poor Drakens frame of mind ending up with him being groggy and grumpy as he sauntered down the street. Only ending up outside his target. The newly reopened book store. The outside of what looked old and blue… “something old.. Something new… Something borrowed.. Yet something blue..”. He muttered to himself.

He hesitated for a second before pushed his way inside the door. The ringing of the chime made him shudder and ‘run’ into the corner. And by run it was more a quick sidestep to get away from the noise and anyone looking his way incase they had wild emotions. His eyes darted to the walls for just a second, The amount of books and the modernness of the building slightly surprised him. Drakens attention flickered to the other woman in the store for just a second. Before he dropped his eyes to the floor. Forcing his own emotions to the surface to try and hide theres. He just wanted to check out new books. Most likely to read at home for something to do. "Hello.." he almost silently muttered to anyone in the store as he pretended to look at a book on the floor.

Victor paused in the middle of the city, completely out of breath. He had run for as long as he could from the police station. He was hunched over, hands on knees as he heavily breathed air into his lungs. Despite having run for a fair bit, he still couldn't fully rationalize what he just saw there. 'Ragna...why...' Victor thought, horrified and not really wanting to go through his memories to try to rationalize things. 'Because he was desperate. No girl would want him unless they were as deprived as him Victor. I told you he was bad and unworthy of you. Now you see why.' Darya responded to him, as Victors mind almost shut down again from the experience. 'But don't worry Victor. I will be here for you and never let him do that to you again.' Darya added, sounding sincere and comforting but having the underlining threat for Ragna being easily noticeable. Victor's thoughts were so unorganized from the shock of the experience that he didn't even try arguing with her about it yet because he didn't know what to think. The thought of him asking for his clothes only disorganized them further. Victor started trying to take deep breaths, to calm his heart and mind. He failed at the latter, but after a few minutes he was no longer gasping for air at least. He pushed all thoughts from what he just saw from his mind, not being able to handle it right now. He would have to later, but he just didn't want to at this moment. And he didn't want to go home with what Darya had implied.

Victor thought of the places he could go, having noticed not everywhere was packed but most of the stores seemed to attract crowds. He briefly considered going to see chromatic eyes now that his task was done...but the thought of going through a crowd like that in the same day sent a shiver down his spine. As much as he wanted he couldn't. He could also feel Darya's eyes boring into him when he thought of her, so it was good he decided not to go there. He could go to one of the stores...but he didn't have much money right now. He had used most of what he had left on the hot chocolate and groceries and had yet to be given more from Ragna. Then Victor's mind dwelled on the help wanted sign he saw before at the bookstore 'If I got a job there...I could make money and be able to support Rag-...myself. I wouldn't need him as much...' Victor thought to himself. The original reason he had even considered one so that he wasn't as much of a burden on Ragna...but after what he just saw, that reason was no longer sufficient. Maybe he should just go somewhere to be alone for a while and forget the idea. 'Think of it this way dear, if you made money you would not have to rely on him. And if betrayed you again like this, you would not need to just have to take it.' Darya said, her words sweet yet her intention, unknown to Victor, was quite the opposite as she hoped it would mean excising Ragna completely from Victor. Victor thought for a few moments, seeing her side to it and too unsure of how he felt of Ragna to form a counter argument. 'The job shouldn't require too much talking...and it is a bookstore which are usually quiet...and not populated by loud or mean people...' Victor thought, furthering the positives to Darya's suggestion and not seeing too much downside to it. He nodded, mostly so Darya would notice, and set out for the bookstore.

                                              [Good Reads Bookstore]

It didn't take him long to reach it given he was already in town, and was semi familiar with everything there having searched high and low for the police station earlier. Victor once again stood in front of the three story, powder blue Edwardian style building. The color was nice and soothing compared to a lot of the other colors in the town, and was more interesting than a lot of the standard ones, which was a nice plus to the store. Victor slowly walked to the white and glass plated door that was adorned with silver letters that spelled the name of the store. His nerves were back. 'I'll probably have to interview for this job and I've never worked at a bookstore before...What if I embarrass myself or the owner says no...' he fussed in his head, almost turning away. 'If the owner says no i'll make you your favorite meal at home dear. But if you don't try you'll never get it and will have to always rely on Ragna.' he heard Darya respond to him in his mind. She was right, and both of them knew it. Victor reached for the door handle and pushed the door open. Victor froze, hearing a bell signal his arrival and shrunk into himself. He didn't want to so obviously have everyone alerted to him. What made it worse as his eyes quickly scanned around the room was the fact there were others to notice him. He saw several people inside and his fears crept up on him, one being a girl looking for something specific in the bookshelves, and a male looking down at the ground. 'There are people here...if they want the job too...I should just-' Victor was thinking, before he paused having seen someone he recognized. "Draken...?" Victor spoke, his eyes shifting fully to the man. His nerves lowered slightly, his internal panic calming down. He was someone familiar...even if only barely. Victor moved away from the door and towards Draken, making sure though to stay away form the other girl. He hoped he wouldn't screw up as badly as he did the first time he met him. Victor could feel Darya holding him intently, now remembering his promise to her. 'If he wants to later...I'll ask.' Victor spoke to Darya in his mind. She settled down, knowing she wanted him to get the job even if it inconvenienced her right now.

As she got to work, Syn had decided to remove her gloves, setting them next to the keyboard. The morning had been rather quiet in the book store, giving her enough time to complete everything she needed to do. She didn't mind, since it was usually slow in the mornings, she thought fondly. It wasn't until she had stood up to stretch that the bookstore owner heard the familiar tinkling of the bell. Being that there was no one but herself to assist she stood and, slipping on her gloves, Miss Valafar headed downstairs.

The sound of soft steps could be heard descending upon the metal stairs as someone was coming down from an above floor. The person remained unseen until she reached the open second-floor. Only to continue to the top of the staircase where she paused, revealing a petite young woman of dark hair contrasting a white dress standing in proper posture. Her expression displayed a small welcoming smile that reflected in her dark gray eyes as she took in the first floor and its occupants. She silently noted the two young men and the young woman that was moseying around absently before walking down the steps to the first floor calmly.

As she reached the second step, she must have skipped the third because, next thing she knew, she was falling on her rear and slid with a high-pitched and surprised "Yelp!", her smile replaced with surprise. She knew she was seen and could feel her cheeks burn, even as the area around her would feel it had dropped ten or so degrees. The young woman quickly stood up after her trip and dusted herself off before nodding slightly to herself and making her way behind the cashier's counter.
"Well, that was embarrassing," She thought as she climbed onto the wood chair and turned to the electronic register that she'd readied for the day. After a minute passed, her nerves calmed down and the cold disappeared before she turned her attention to those in the bookstore. "If you need help finding anything, please don't hesitate to ask," She said politely to those in the shop, her voice a soft and sweet-toned soprano.

Draken had at least expected a reply from the woman that was in the room. Though he received none. He did jump a little as his name was said aloud. His head snaped around to look at the source of the sound before blinking for a few seconds.” Oh.. Hello Why are you..” He winced a tiny amount as he felt the internal panic still flowing from Victor though it seemed to stabilize slowly. However the nagging feeling of another emotion, joy. Was still bleeding though from another near by person. Because being joyful and panicked would be strange.

It was almost straight after he felt sharp jolts of pain in his rear end, well not his but another as a new woman entered the ‘field’ Causing his eyes to snap over to the stairs and he even let out a whimper before his cheeks started to burn a amber red. Lots of ‘negative’ emotions in once place and he could feel himself slipping slowly. / “Are.. you ok madam? I..” his eyes flickered back towards Victor before he downcast them. ”Know any good books to read? He asked almost silently.

Victor saw Drakens head snap towards him, and Victor lowered his eyes to the ground at the sudden attention. Though his familiarity with him led initiating dialogue simpler, he was still averse to being the center of attention. Even if he was given permission by Darya to have him as a friend, he would still need to put in the ground work for that by attempting to develop a rapport with Draken and see if their personalities were even compatible with each other. Victor slowly forced his eyes to glance back at Draken, noticing his gaze still on him as Draken started speaking but never finished his sentence before wincing. Victor waited, confused at what Draken was going to say as he felt Darya creep forward in his mind, intent on studying him as much as she could. Daryas intensity of morbid joy only increased as she watched Draken, hoping to gain whatever secrets he held and wondering if he could feel what she felt right now. Or fully knew what she intended for him. Victor on the other hand had his nerves spike up a bit. 'Did I do something wrong? He winced and didn't finish speaking...' he thought to himself. Wincing was usually a bad thing, and though he wracked his mind the only solution it could come up with was that Draken either didn't like him or wanted to be alone. Amidst Victors nerves arose the feeling of slight sadness as he dwelled on the thought, his mind focusing on himself being the issue.

Vitor's eyes shot up at the soft sound of footsteps emanating from somewhere vaguely upstairs. He focused his gaze on the stairway, his body instinctively taking a step back. He had no inclination of who it could be. Could be the owner or another person browsing books in the store, and he was not quite sure which he found to be the worse of those two options. The ominous footsteps kept on echoing, with no sight of their source as Victor nervously kept his gaze on the stairway, with a slow mounting fear at the possibility of who it could be. It mercifully ended as the person stood atop the second floor staircase in plain view of everyone. 'Female. White dress. Black hair that drapes down to her thighs. Short and petite. White, proper posture.' Darya spoke in Victor's mind, writing it all down as she categorically analyzed the individual, doing much the same Victor himself was doing, though he was not being as scientific about it as her. To him, she didn't seem that short, though it may just be because of the height difference since she was on the second floor. Her facial expression seemed to be welcoming, and sincere from the looks in her eyes to Victor, which caused him to turn his gaze down to the floor in front of him. He merely focused on her footsteps again, using them to determine the proximity between the two of them as his nerves mounted the closer she sounded, not daring to lift his eyes.

Victor almost jumped in place when he heard the yelp. His eyes shot up from their position of staring at the floor and immediately looked at the source. The girl he had seen before was sitting on the floor, her cheeks red. He wasn't sure what happened since he wasn't looking, but by the yelp and the redness...he guessed she fell. Victor would have gone to help, but he could feel the attention of everyone focused on her and he did not want to enter that spotlight. Even if it meant he had to stay back and do nothing. He averted his eyes from her, slightly ashamed he couldn't will himself to help her.Victor also noticed a small whimper next to him, his eyes temporarily glancing up at Draken and seeing redness in his cheeks before he focused his eyes back on the floor in front of him. Victor heard Draken speak, saying the words he wished he could have mustered the will to say himself. He heard the soft sound of the females footsteps start up again, before they stopped as he heard what sounded like a cashier being operated. His eyes stole a glance up to see her there before they dropped back down. He hoped she was ok and not hiding any pain just because others were here. He heard her speak then, disrupting is thoughts, in a soft and sweet voice. Almost like a combination of his and Darya's voice.

Victor in his peripheral saw Draken turn his head towards him, but he kept his gaze trained on the ground. He asked about good books to read and Victor's mind went into overdrive as his gaze slowly lifted to almost match Drakens, but his eyes were completely unfocused as he racked his mind searching. 'But what genres do you like? Fantasy, mystery, guides...' Victor thought to himself. There were too many options so Victor just said the first book that resonated with him. "The Rangers...apprentice...by John Flanagan." Victor meekly replied in a low voice. He has no idea if he would like it or not, but it was a book Victor liked so he hoped it would do. There was a different series he liked more, but he didn't want to give away his favorite in case it was rejected. He wished he had asked what types of books he liked or which ones he had already read were but he wanted to attract as little attention to himself as possible because at this point he had realized the significance of the person behind the cashier. 'She either works here...or is the owner...' he reasoned to himself. Which meant he would have to talk with her. Even though it was only Draken and one other person in here he was still hesitant. Victor took a deep breath to try and calm himself, before walking forward to the cashier. He forced himself to make eye contact with her, mustering all the will he has and thinking back on the advice he was given by the lady. He wouldn't be able to maintain it long. "Hi...I'm here...for the...Job offer..." he quietly said, before he broke eye contact and gazed at the counter rather than her, not able to keep eye contact. Unfortunately, Darya's description of her being short was correct as his eyes didn't shift that much from her eyes to focus on the counter, which he hoped she wouldn't amend by simply leaning forwards.

Boo, silver, boo, Silver

After her moment of embarrassment had passed, she was able to focus on what needed her attention, which was her customers (as few as they were at this time). Syn was pleased to have others visit the shop; it meant the books could be loved by others. She turned her attention to the young man that seemed so shy and dressed in an interesting fashion, nodding in answer to his first question. It was considerate to ask, she noted to herself in silence. Then she turned her attention back to the register until he asked his next question about good books. She paused in answering though as the other young man had so meekly suggested a book.

Though it was unexpected, she was not the least bit angered. In fact, she was quite intrigued as she turned her attention to the two gentlemen curiously.
"How interesting." A small smile graced her lips before she turned her attention to the tablet beside the register that had a log of all their books currently in stock. Setting it on the counter so others could scroll through it and find where it was placed. But she did pull up The Ranger's Assistant, so that one might read it's summary and other information.

As she was just setting the tablet down when she noticed that the taller young man had approached the counter and looked up politely to make eye contact.
"Wow, he's tall. Aw, poor thing seems nervous." She kept her expression kind and welcoming as he struggled to speak, and was pleased to hear his request. It seems her 'Help wanted' sign worked, and that relieved the owner. "Of course, just give me a second," she replied before slipping out of the chair carefully and kneeling down to open a cabinet. From there, she pulled out an application and pen that were attached to a clipboard. "Just fill this out and return it when you are done. If you have any questions, please don't be afraid to ask," She instructed nicely as she held out the clipboard to him. Once he had taken it, she would climb back into the chair and go back to what she was doing.

Victor felt his nerves rise when she said yes. He hadn't expected to get past this phase, and wasn't sure if he the feeling in his stomach was excitement, anxiety or both. His eyes quickly darted up to see her get off the stool and disappear from his immediate vision while going under the counter. He could hear her rummaging around with something underneath the counter, and he was tempted to lean over to try and get a peak. His nerves kept him from doing so, as he worried about her taking offense to such an invasion of privacy or if his look would be misconstrued. She soon rose from her position, holding a clipboard, pen and a piece of paper attached to the clipboard. He was slightly confused, his nerves not allowing him to think clearly and clouding his mind. As she spoke, Victor stared for a second at her before her words sunk in. He gave a sheepish look to her before picking up what was his job application and giving her a nervous smile, being slightly comforted by her welcoming expression, before walking over to a...He didn't know where the seats were. Not wanting to have to ask for help so soon, he set off in a random direction in the bookstore, not noticing the seats right by him.

Victor went up to the second floor, climbing the staircase which left him feeling temporarily vulnerable but with the pay off of hopefully being less visible up here. He took a seat in the far corner, and sat down, looking over the job application with increasing anxiety. He forced himself to take a deep breath, and focus only on the first few questions, just the basis for who he was and where he lived. He marked down Victor Todeas as his name, his address as 195 Cherry Street, and he did not have a email or phone so he put N/A there. Looking at desired job he thought for a moment, remembering how the cashier was so out in the open, and quickly picked Sales manager as the job position. He saw some questions of past jobs, and marked it down to mostly working at animal shelters and and other basic menial jobs, stating his reason for leaving all as having to move. The rest took a little more thought as he slowly and methodically went through the questions, taking his time and taking breaks so he doesn't have a panic attack. He finally reached the last question, which asked why he wanted the job. Victor stared at the question, thinking on how to answer it. He wanted to be truthful, but he knew he would need more of a reason to get the job, and didn't want to use his personal life to skew his chances. So he answered honestly, quietly speaking it as he wrote it down, for once speaking in a full sentence. "I would like to get this job so I can help my brother support us, and I feel I am quite knowledgeable on books so I can help out in this store. It is one of the few jobs I believe I will enjoy doing." Victor wasn't sure if he should have tried making it more inspiring or not, but he didn't want to lie to anyone, expecially not someone he just met.

The task being down, Victor slowly arose from his cross legged position, stretching to wake up the limbs that had gone numb. He slowly crept down the stairs, trying to mask his footsteps as much as he could so no one would notice, though it didn't help with how exposed he felt doing so. He focused his gaze back on the figure at the desk as he slowly walked over to her, his anxiety building with each step. He hoped she wouldn't loudly reject him at least. He could deal with it so long as it was quiet but if it was loud he didn't know how he could handle it. He finally reached the desk, his hands now shaking slightly as he carefully placed the application, with clipboard and pen, onto the counter and gently pushed it over to the owner, raising his gaze to lock eyes with her despite her nerves as his mind channeled the advice he used for these situations. "I...finished....Miss...Sorry! I...I never asked your...name...If I may know?" Victor spoke, going slowly because of his nerves but speeding up at the end, his voice in its usual low volume. He was screwing up already, internally panicking. He had just given her the job application and he was already sabotaging herself.

Syndel met his eyes when coming back up, seeing his temporary pause as he processed her instructions before he would take the clipboard. While he left, she would slip out of her seat and look under the counter for another tablet (a silver one, not metallic blue that was on top of the counter). With tablet in-hand, she'd walk around and take electronic inventory for next time. Soft humming could be heard as she walked on the first floor.

Finishing the first floor, and taking note of an adorable young man from earlier asleep and hidden in a corner, she'd return to the cashier counter and sat back down. It was a couple minutes later that she'd hear soft footsteps from atop the metal stairs. Smiling kindly, she turned her attention to her applicant and met his eyes casually; hoping to ease the nerves that seemed to plague him. Her expression portrayed slight amusement as he flustered over introductions.
"Miss Valafar, is fine." She replied politely, neither offended nor angered before she looked down at the application after she took it from the counter with gloved hand. "Mr. Todeas, I look forward to seeing you tomorrow for an interview," She informed him with clear and polite instruction. Never would she reject nor accept right on the spot.

After the young applicant had left, she would continue her day as any other day at the bookshop. The sleeping boy had woke and even paid for the book he had read. She had thought he was adorable and sweet before locking the door close to closing time and heading upstairs after every customer left. Shutting everything down and locking up all that needed to be before heading downstairs and locking the door before heading home for the night.

Syndel sighed as she made her way to the bookshop, fixing her long hair into a neat ponytail as she walked from the bus stop. Wearing a nice pair of black slacks with black dress socks, platformed Mary Jane's and a white collared button-up blouse. She was running a little late since she had missed her bus, which flustered her. After her hair was in the ponytail she focused on finding her keys in the purse on her shoulder with success and unlocked the door. Door unlocked, she would then walk in, but not turn the sign to open yet.

Closing and locking the door behind her, she turned on the lights and smiled to herself. Today was her favorite, yet least favorite, day since new inventory was coming in at noon in back. She was most excited for the hardcover Sherlock Holmes, among other classics that were being restocked. As she would walk around the store after grabbing a microfiber cloth she kept under the counter, she could feel a chill in the air but as gone as quickly as it had arrived. Syndel shook it off and decided to go upstairs to her office after she was done dusting, start her computer and logged in before locking it and going back downstairs to open for the day. Once she reached the bottom floor, Syndel would gracefully make her way to the bookshop's door, switch 'Closed' to 'Welcome, please come in'. With a nod of satisfaction, she would unlock the door and return behind the cashier counter. Softly humming under her breath as she waited for the day to begin.

Victor slowly made his way to the town, not rushing to his impending doom, from his home. He was nervous, which wasn't new, but he could feel it spiking with every step he took towards the bookstore. His interview was today. Even though he had been hired before, the dread of this moment never subsided nor did it ever lower in intensity. His thoughts were plagued on if he screwed up and would not get the job, as this was the only one he could even remotely see himself being able to work at in this town at the present moment. He also knew the question that would be invariably asked, as it was asked at every interview he had been at. 'If I am so nervous, how could I work here...' he mentally repeated to himself. Jobs invariably had a social aspect unfortunately, and the one he applied to did as well. He would have to answer questions, give recommendations, and generally have to interact with others as a major component of the job. 'It'll only be a few people at a time...I'm fine if i'm not crowded.' he thought to himself. 'Besides my dear Victor, if you can't I can merely take over.' he heard Darya respond. Though his issue with people was his nervousness, Darya's was that she saw others as almost less than nothing unless they intrigued her. They both knew that, but it didn't dissuade Darya in his mind, and if it happened Victor couldn't really stop her. 'Only if I really can't though. And I can't show you to her just yet. Because then you would have to work all day, not me.' Victor thought, rationalizing if it were to be his job, he would have to be in control today at least. He felt Darya's arms wrap around him in his mind. 'Of course Victor. Whatever you desire.' Darya responded.

By this time Victor had made his way to just outside the bookstore his dread was at an all time high despite him trying to calm himself down. It came to the point, as he paced a little out of sight from the bookstore, that he had to trick himself by saying he would look weird to everyone else in town if he didn't stop pacing and go somewhere. Thankfully his social apprehension was effective in dispelling the dread to a large enough degree that he soon found himself standing in front of the elegant doors to the bookstore. He took a deep breath, reasoning to himself that standing right in front of an open door would be even weirder, and pulled it open, quickly entering inside without focusing on anything. As soon as the bells chime subsided and the door was closed behind him, his eyes darted across the room till they found and rested on the figure of his potential employer. She was in the spot he had last seen her, the cashier counter, though her attire differed slightly as she wore a white collared button up blouse. He could not see anything else given the counter between them and the current distance. He took another deep breath, and made his way over to the counter. His peripheral briefly noted the black she wore that he couldn't see earlier, a contrast to the white she was wearing, also noting the pony tail her hair was in. His eyes failed to see anything even remotely horrific in this store despite the feeling that filled him, which was a small relief. He brought his eyes to her, a practice he was getting better at as time went on it seemed, focusing at just looking at hers to try to dissuade the apprehension he felt with something that didn't at all inspire any. He managed a small nervous smile, wracking his mind for her name. 'Valafar...Miss Valafar was the name. It sounds a bit regal and nice.' he thought to himself. "Greetings...Miss Valafar. I am here for my...interview." Victor managed to say, managing too not speak to slowly for once by using his nerves to speed up his speaking for once rather than detracting from it. He could feel Darya reassuringly having a hand on his shoulder in his mind, conveying that she was there for him without needing to speak it, which did comfort him a bit.
