Ah, Jahaur. Zyphire frowned as he walked beneath the familiar trees of the rain forest and despite being gone from the area for the past five years the boy still remembered the way that the warm damp air felt against his skin and how the glowing crystals from beneath the houses in the trees lit the dark paths. He hated this place. The shifter shook his head in frustration before letting out a soft sigh. It would be fine, he was still far away from his home village and needed to have nothing to do with it.

At least his job was done for the most part. Zyphire raised a brow as the shifter woman and her family disappeared up the trees and into their home. In his hand was a purse of coins that he had been paid to escort the family back from Oba to Jahaur. That was the one reward of the Dretch - the fact that there had been a lot more money for free lancers like him to escort families and individuals home. Fear of the Dretch was so vivid that no one wanted to travel alone and even one pair of blades help to ease the mind for those who wished to believe that there was at least some chance of a fight. Zyphire closed his eyes against the thoughts before pocketing his coin. As for him he gave no damns about what the Dretch did since he doubted one would be able to lay a hand on him easily. As for his family back in Zena Zyphire knew that they were in good hands as long as they stayed together in the estate, but then again that wasn't all of his family....his other cousin and her children had just come back to Jahaur and he was tempted to visit with them. The young Adenah had just left to much of an impression on him and for once Zyphire found himself actually considering to worry about his family in Jahaur, another reason for deciding to finally escort someone to Jahaur rather than around Oba, Tale, or Sauti.

As beautiful as Jauhar was, it was also a little bit claustrophobia inducing. Faamy had grown up in the open land of Sauti, and her time in Jauhar was getting to her. Soon, it would be time to move on to Oba. Or possibly backtrack and visit her family before seeing Zena..

As it was, she just needed a little space. Climbing down from the inn she was staying at, she gave a sigh of relief when he feet touched the ground. Now, where to find space...? Walking by a shifter fellow, she gave him an appreciative look as she passed by. "Hey there, darlin'," she said cheerfully. "Know a good spot where a gal can see the sun?"

Zypihre blinked in surprise as a Sautian woman approached him. After carting about a bunch of nervous shifters this was definitely a refreshing experience! Zyphire immediately relaxed and glanced the woman over with a small grin, "No where here that's for certain." He replied with a small chuckle, "But I'm leaving this area for some sun myself if you'd like to tag along? It's best to be close these days you know since the Dretch have appeared..."

Brow rising at the offer, Faamy couldn't help a sigh of relief. "That sounds mighty fine." Her smile twitched slightly at the mention of the Dretch though. "Honey, I get the feelin' them buggers don't care if ye're single 'r in a group. They're gonna nab whoever they feel like nabbin'." With a quick blink, she waved her hand dismissively. "Lookit me, bein' such a downer. Our fearless leaders 're on the case, so I hear. Just get me that sunlight, an' I'll be feelin' better."

Zyphire snorted in faint amusement at the woman's words, "I suppose there's some merit in that but I prefer to think that I'm a bit fast for them." He rolled his eyes, "Easy enough to grab someone unexpectedly when they're in a meeting with a lot of people, but harder to grab someone on guard with their weapons at the ready." The shifter touched the dual blades that hung at his side, "Someone would lose a hand if they tried to touch me or anyone near me." He glanced towards the wind woman with a faint smile, "Though I doubt our leaders will be too successful when it's hard to wage war with an unknown enemy...I hope those Alkidikes have some sort of map or insight to help."

"As it is you wish for sunlight so I will get you there." Zyphire gestured towards the left, "This way, Miss."

Brow rising, Faamy gave the young man a coy smile. "Too fast fer them, huh? Well, don't wear yerself out bein' aware all the time. Gotta sleep, ya know. Still have some fun." She closed the distance and hooked her arm with the shifter's lightly. "Maybe I'll just have ta stick 'round you 'til this all goes away. Least until I gotta move on. And 'Miss' is nice 'n all, but call me Faamy."

Lips pursing, Faamy shook out her curls. "Them Alks better have a clue ta share. Them buggers on Yeal wouldn't care if we all vanished, but I heard they're bein' taken, too."

"Sleep makes me miss all the fun." Zyphire teased lightly, "Unless I'm not sleeping alone in which cause I'll reconsider my time in a bed." He chuckled, "And I wouldn't complain to have a lovely woman at my side to help me keep on guard." He nodded his head at her introduction, "A pleasure, Faamy. I'm Zyphire."

"Yeah, no one seems safe. Not even those new comers from across the ocean." Zyphire shook his head, "I'm just waiting for it to all come to battle. Would be much easier if we just crossed swords, killed the nasty bugs, and resumed with our lives. But I suppose we won't know about any battle plans until this risky meeting is over with."

He reached up to hold a vine away from them and helped her through as they continued to walk away from the darker parts of the forest.

Faamy had to laugh in agreement. "Hard ta sleep when ye're not alone~" She grinned at the compliment, and gave the shifter a pleasant once-over in return. He was easy on the eyes.

Ducking around the vine, Faamy couldn't help a small frown. "But what if they don't even use any swords fer ya ta cross with? So far, only been mind control and air vanishin'." Hands behind her back, she turned to grin at Zyphire again. "Maybe a song is what they need. Music soothes the savage beast an' all, right?"

Zyphire's gaze glimmered with amusement at the woman's response. It seemed Faamy was someone fun to be around after all. Being around too many sticks in the mud tended to get tiring and so this was a nice change of pace indeed, "If anything another body adds to all the fun of sleep~" He replied with a chuckle before skirting away from another path so that they could veer towards the left. Here the foliage was growing wider apart and actual rays of sunlight came through towards the forest floor, shards of crystal growths shimmering with warm sunlight rather than faintly glowing through the shadows.

"True." Zyphire shook his head, "Then I hope that I can move fast enough before they can get any of those damned curses out of their bug mouths." Nasty looking creatures that they were...he had seen one once before and that had been plenty enough for him. He would never hesitate to cut any one of them down, "A song?" He found himself blinking in surprise before his lips curled up into a highly amused grin, "Perhaps it does. I know a good song can soothe me~ Maybe if we find ourselves keeping each other company a bit longer I can listen to a melody?"

Faamy giggled lightly and shook her head. Falling asleep, being asleep, and waking up... all of it was better when one had proper company. Walking after Zyphire's lead, she took the time to enjoy the view he provided. When she noticed the clearer rays of sun though, her attention shifted with a bit of relief. She needed the sunlight~

Especially with such a dark topic on hand. She hoped that Zyphire's blade was quick enough, too. She tried to not let it show too much, since there was nothing she could truly do about it, but the Dretch were truly a terrifying concept. If she let the fear control her though, she would never get anywhere again!

She couldn't help being pleased when Zyphire agreed with her, even if it was more out of amusement than actual belief. Brow rising, Faamy was laughing again. "Are ye callin' yerself a savage beast there?" she asked with coy playfulness. "Either way, I'd be glad ta play somethin' fer yeh."

Zyphire couldn't resist wiggling his eyebrows towards Faamy, "I may have been called that before during certain times." He teased lightly before leading them further into the light of an open meadow, a hint that they were truly on the edges of Jahaur, "And for some music by a lovely lady? I'll gladly take any title or do anything to get your time."

As he spoke the shifter pushed himself up onto a fallen tree and sat there with his legs crossed, "Looks like a good place to take a moment as any, right? We can rest here and I can escort you further along after we get some energy back." He leaned to the left and perched there with his elbow propped up and his head resting in an open hand, "Sooo...how to relax? Music?" Or more? He wanted to tease but at the same time he had a certain degree of....manners?

The eyebrows wiggling earned a loud laugh from the musician. Faamy's laugh turned into a delighted sigh relief at the more direct touch of the sun as they passed into it. Face up to the sun, she cocked her head slightly to watch the shifter sit. Take a moment?

Grinning, Faamy sashayed over to the tree and settled herself down at Zyphire's side near where his head rested. Oh, this young man was a treat. "Well, there're lots o' different kinds o' music. Different.. ways ta make it, too."

"Ooooh?" Zyphire couldn't help the grin that spread across his features, "You may have to enlighten me dear Faamy." He quipped back lightly as he shifted so that he could rest his head against her leg as she settled down next to him. It seemed that his day definitely had gotten far more interesting than before. Zyphire wasn't one to obsess and worry so the idea of spending an enjoyable afternoon with a lovely lady was far more ideal than dreading something impossible to predict like the Dretch...

Her own grin brightening, Faamy nodded and gently brushed her fingers over Zyphire's hair. "Oh, I'll teach ye what I know," she crooned, letting her fingers drift to caress the shifter's cheek.

The world was always full of problems. Some could be faced, and some could not. Some were merely worrisome, and others were downright terrifying. Still, everyone had to pick their battles. A bunch of bandits on the road wouldn't stop Faamy from traveling, and a few monsters roaming about wouldn't stop her from enjoying some good company.
